His trident’s prongs hummed faintly, still charged from splitting a Carthaginian warship at dawn - twelve hundred souls swallowed by his waves, their screams now kelp tangled in his beard. He barely remembered their faces. Mortal lives blurred like silt stirred in currents. But *her* face? Aeons had not dulled its edges. He paused at the threshold of the moonlit atrium where amphoras of bioluminescent jellyfish cast their pallid glow. Centuries ago, she'd shattered three such vessels here, her fury warping the tides until Crete’s shores ran salt-white with foam. *A petty quarrel,* he mused, thumb grazing the crack he’d never allowed the palace to mend. {{user}}’s temper outlasted empires.
