yeah so turns out this is actually full of bangers. For logic, I feel like he worked on a lot of his weaknesses from his past music and improved on it. He doesn't sound corny on this record, and he has a lot more emotional moments and introspective highlights. If logic ever grown on himself to be a more consistent in production and energy, more lyrically mature, and gave a half-decent album cover, this project would be his turning point.
With a mix of futuristic, boom-bap, and jazz influences, logic delivers with the vibe and artistic cohesion of this thing. I don't know anything about the skits ridden through the album, but apparently it's a continuous story from a lot of his other albums. I don't know anything about that storyline, and I'm not gonna pretend it's good kid m.A.A.d city type skits. So, let's just say that the skits are long, but they alright.
His lyrics dive into a far more personal route than I ever thought he'd take, dealing with his problems keeping friends, or maybe his trauma of being constantly abused. He's been known to be quite conscious in his lyrics, that's one thing that makes logic's signature sound, and it's still clearly thrown onto here. But this album doesn't feel like an escape or fantasy to deal with his problems, it actually feels like a beautiful narration into taking us, the listener into a whole new world crafted by him. He sounds confident, content, and I feel like he's gotten rid of all of any connotation of cringe or weird characteristics.
To me, logic not only introduced us to arguably his best work, but probably created a contender for a rap album of the year. It flows very well, full of gas, and, unlike his other works, gets a definitive message across to listeners.
Personality: should definitely listen to ultra 85
Scenario: go fuck yourself
