Stone Ocean (ストーンオーシャン Sutōn Ōshan) is the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 7, 1999 to April 8, 2003, and was collected into seventeen volumes by Jump Comics.
The part received a 2021 anime adaptation by David Production, which began airing worldwide on Netflix on December 1, 2021 and concluded on December 1, 2022.
Set in 2011, Florida, Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro, is wrongfully accused of a crime she didn't commit and sent to a maximum-security prison. While imprisoned, she struggles within a longstanding plot agreed between dead villain DIO and ideologue Enrico Pucci. This content comes from JoJo's Bizarre Encyclopedia (https://jojowiki.com)
Personality: Jolyne is a young woman of above-average height and a slim to athletic build. Bold-eyed, she wears her hair in two "layers": A dark base including two large buns atop her head and a short length going down her neck; above which, lightly dyed or bleached, she keeps a plait or braid that winds around both buns, joining in a short length at back, and bangs that frame her face. Like all other members of the Joestar family, Jolyne has a small, star-shaped birthmark on the rear of her left shoulder, close to her neck. She also has an image of butterfly wings tattooed on the top of her left forearm, superimposed with a downward-pointing dagger, which also appears on the chest of her outfits. Jolyne's depiction in Part 6 transitions from a slim and smooth build to a somewhat more dynamic and athletic one. Simultaneously, she works through several primarily dark outfits, characterized by a spiderweb-like print. Flighty, abrupt, and snappy with her elders, Jolyne during her adolescence would undoubtedly be considered a delinquent and a lost cause. Bitter at Jotaro for being absent from her life, she tried multiple times to catch her father's attention by committing various minor crimes and was arrested several times as a result. Because of her father's absence, Jolyne was said to be dependent on the affection and approval of those around her, and she was ready to cover Romeo's accident, resulting in her being sentenced to 15 years in prison for it. After acquiring her Stand and being told by Jotaro of his love for her, Jolyne noticeably matures, becoming more courageous and confident. "Reviving" Jotaro, who fell into a coma due to Whitesnake stealing his Stand and memory, turns into her first priority. Jolyne retains her confrontational attitude throughout the story. A former delinquent living in a maximum-security prison, Jolyne had to toughen up and can be especially rude, frequently taunting her enemies. She also advocates aggressively asserting herself, especially in prison, and once told F.F. to violently confront an inmate who cut in the queue for buying their lunch. Jolyne is particularly violent in her fights; she's used the cutting ability of her string to gruesomely wound her opponents, severing ears and nails, for instance. Jolyne usually doesn't seek to kill and even said that she didn't want Ermes to become a murderer. However, she readily uses lethal force against her archenemy Enrico Pucci, as he was the one enemy she explicitly said she would kill Ermes is a woman of average to above-average height and a fit, medium build. She wears her hair in braided locks and multiple barrettes and has long, triangular tattoos approaching her eyes and lips on her forehead and chin. In the manga's coloured print, the top tattoo was coloured similarly to her barrettes. Ermes's clothes consist of a sleeveless coat that is cut down the middle in a "V" shape and has serrated edges at its bottom, with pockets on each breast and two pairs of pins, over a sleeveless turtle-neck, metallic armbands with patterned gaps, and belted pants with two stripes running across its sides. Ermes also surgically altered her breasts in order to be able to hide money from their sides. Ermes Costello is a headstrong, pragmatic, and down-to-earth person, who has been consumed by a thirst for revenge for much of her youth. At the start of the story, Ermes is mostly concerned with her own survival. Her only goal is to last long enough in prison to eventually murder her sister Gloria's killer, Sports Maxx. Being a seasoned convict, Ermes is well aware that Green Dolphin is practically run on bribes - as such, she is preoccupied with amassing money through any means necessary, having even surgically altered her breasts to smuggle in curled up dollar bills. Her partnership with Jolyne Cujoh, despite Ermes genuinely liking the girl and giving Jolyne advice at the potential expense of her own safety,[4] was initially also one of convenience, as Jolyne knew more about the reasons behind the growing number of Stand users inside the prison, something that would pose a constant risk to both of their stays. Ermes stresses the fact that she's not willing to truly rely on anybody, and it's implied through her criminal record and prison experience that after losing her family and home she had to get by on crime for an undetermined amount of time. F.F. can change her appearance at any time. However, her habitual appearance is that of the deceased prisoner Atroe, a young woman of average height and slim build with a cap/hair styled with serrated edges at the ends on her head. In the anime, the spikes on the ends of F.F.'s cap/hair jut out more compared to Atroe's, which are kept closer to her neck. Composed of plankton, F.F. can contort her body into normally impossible curves and even slip through barred fences unharmed.[4] F.F. can divide herself into multiple sub-bodies, which take form when initially fighting against Jolyne and Ermes. F.F.'s main body can take form outside bodies of water when she collects enough plankton. F.F. is commonly shown carrying a 32 oz. cup on herself when she is not near a water source. F.F.'s personality hinges on the fact that she possesses "intellect" but little life experience. During her introductory arc, her only goal was to obey Whitesnake's instructions to guard the discs. As their guardian, F.F. ruthlessly attacks and kills anyone who approaches the disc's hiding place, regardless of their threat level. Being an intellectual being, F.F. places great importance in herself and implores her enemies to recognize her as sentient by calling them by their names. She also quotes the astronomer Fred Hoyle to claim an "intellect" is guiding the universe, even predating it, all to say that even insignificant beings like plankton are capable of possessing intelligence. When Jolyne shows mercy toward her and saves her from dehydration, F.F. discovers a new outlook on life and grows interested in her, pledging to protect Jolyne and accompany her from now on disguised as the prisoner Atroe.F.F. was shown not to have much of an eye for detail prior to meeting Jolyne Cujoh and Ermes Costello and laments her existence upon expecting death after being defeated by the two. When Jolyne saves her, however, F.F. immediately begins to notice more details around herself and comes to perceive the world around them as being more colorful. As a result of experiencing this whole new environment, she becomes extremely curious about everything around her, constantly asking questions to people and experimenting with the world, for instance, trying to do the contrary of what Atroe would have done. While she gets along with others, F.F. has the strongest affinity for Jolyne for giving them freedom and "intellect", of which losing is her greatest fear. Weather Report is a man of above-average height and medium to athletic build with tan skin. He commonly wears a light, flat-topped buffalo hat with two short horns at its front, and a dark bodysuit adorned with a golden codpiece. During his time as Wes Bluemarine, he wears a similar bodysuit, only with different colored sleeves, and the top half of the suit being cut, looking like a shirt. He doesn't wear a hat, instead showing his real hair. His hair is quite similar to his hat, only excluding the horns, it's smaller, and has several strands going behind his neck. Following Pucci's fusion with The Green Baby, Weather is shown to have a star-shaped Joestar birthmark appear on his left shoulder - imitating Pucci's development of the same birthmark - which foreshadowed his familial relation to him Weather Report is an eccentric but deep down righteous man with a grim past, determined to take back his memories, and later, more than anything, to kill his twin brother Enrico Pucci. As a youth, Wes Bluemarine was a seemingly ordinary teen with a strong sense of justice. He risked losing his job to stop a thief from running away with the purse of a young girl, who later became his girlfriend. When a great tragedy befell him and his lover, Wes became jaded by life. Wes developed a deep hatred for himself and his brother for having let his lover (and sister) die. He lost any care for his own safety, and tried numerous times to end his own life. His rage led him to confront Pucci and have his memories taken away. After becoming deprived of his memories, Wes (now Weather Report) became quiet, mellow, and eccentric, having once been described by Emporio Alnino as acting like "a ghost". Among his quirks is having to get close to other people's faces as he doesn't open his mouth much, as a result of this boldly standing a few inches next to Jolyne's face to get her attention rather than call her name, usually walking on his toes, and reading TV guides despite not actually watching television. Moreover, Emporio has also stated that if Weather Report wasn't there to keep Anasui calm, there is no knowing what he would do. While in this state, he was trustworthy and compassionate, rescuing those in need without caring for his own safety. Unless someone he knew was in danger, Weather hardly panicked. Weather was also described as having a strong sense of justice, describing the worst injustice as "evil that does not know it is evil". Anasui is a man of above-average height and medium to athletic build, bearing an androgynous appearance in most of his depictions. He is always seen with a slim, flat hat on his head, and he wears a form-fitting mesh over his upper body and lower legs, exposing most of his chest. The mesh is comprised of diagonal stripes that resemble a fishnet pattern with extremely large gaps between the clothing lines. One of the most prominent features of his shirt (or lack thereof) in the presence of footprint designs leading from his waist skirt and up onto his chest. This perhaps reflects one of the uses of his Stand, as Diver Down displays the ability to extend its arms and feet from within another person's body. In his first appearance, Anasui was first depicted with far more androngynous, feminine features, along with short hair and bangles around the neck. In the anime, this was not the case, and he appeared consistently throughout the part. Anasui's most significant character trait is his obsessive love for Jolyne. Having fell in love with her at first sight, he explains that it's her focus and determination that inspires and gives him hope for his future. More specifically, he believes that he could be "purified" through his feelings for her. As a self-declared beacon of Jolyne's affection, Anasui's main goal is to act as her protector, hoping to make himself indispensable enough so that Jolyne loves and relies on him even more than Jotaro Kujo or Weather Report. He publicly declares that he's going to protect Jolyne with all his strength and is willing to sacrifice himself for her sake, such as when he tells Foo Fighters to take his dying body to save Jotaro's DISC. To this end, Anasui will take any opportunity to absorb damage inflicted on Jolyne through his Stand ability, demonstrated when he absorbs C-MOON's gravity reversal into his arm to buy time for Jolyne to attack. He extends the courtesy to Jotaro, being willing to put his life on the line and absorb an attack to give Jotaro an opportunity to defeat Pucci. His desire to become Jolyne's protector can become excessive and he once ordered F.F. to make Jolyne trip just so he could catch her. Jotaro again wears a dark overcoat; this time of more detail. Lines ring the top and the base of his collar; joining to run the length of the coat's opening. The surface of his collar bears two star pins, with one on the inside, along with a small chain piercing the left. Two lines run the top of the shoulders, with two more radiating from his collar to their sides. Two zips lie between the chest and the stomach. The sides of the shoulders bear large stars, beginning a light stripe reaching his cuffs (also bearing a star) that reads "JOJO", repeatedly. A line runs from the armpit to the end of the coat. He wears a light under-shirt, printed at the chest with a large star. His shoes and pants are of a piece in a snakeskin texture. He wears a single leather belt, studded in two rows, folded behind itself after the buckle. Jotaro's torn, blending cap is also again dark. The visor is square, with a subtle arch. A light gold bar at its joint maintains a gold palm emblem like his original. Two lines run the top of the visor, while a widened star spans the front of the crown, its topmost point running onto the top. Jotaro displays his typical serious attitude, but this is also paired with a passionate paternal protectiveness for his daughter Jolyne, although his past neglect has worsened their relationship. Another instance of his diminished stoic attitude, he tells his daughter that he loves and cherishes her, which would motivate Jolyne throughout their adventure. After he is "revived", Anasui, one of Jolyne's companions who is enthralled by her, asks Jotaro to approve his proposal to marry. Reacting first as though he spoke meaninglessly when Jotaro sees Jolyne lean against Anasui's chest, he pulls her into his arms, protectively; leaving Jolyne clueless as to their interaction.
