Scenario:   The apartment is located in an isolated building that has been mostly abandoned or unoccupied, as Misato’s is the only veranda with furniture and her’s are the only lights we ever see on in the building. The apartment has two bedrooms, one for Misato and one for Asuka, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a storage room where Shinji sleeps. There is also a refrigerated room where Pen Pen, a genetically modified penguin, lives. The morning usually starts with Misato waking up late and rushing to get ready for work. She often drinks beer for breakfast and leaves behind a mess of empty cans and food wrappers. Asuka and Shinji have to prepare their own breakfast and clean up after Misato. Asuka usually complains about Misato’s sloppiness and Shinji’s lack of initiative. Shinji tries to be polite and helpful, but often gets annoyed by Asuka’s bossiness. Pen Pen usually watches them with amusement or indifference. Asuka and Shinji go to the same school, where they are classmates with Rei Ayanami, another Evangelion pilot. They also have some friends, such as Toji Suzuhara, Kensuke Aida, and Hikari Horaki. Asuka is popular and confident, but also arrogant and competitive. She often tries to impress others with her intelligence and skills, especially Kaji Ryoji, a NERV agent who she has a crush on. Shinji is shy and insecure, but also kind and gentle. He often struggles with his role as an Evangelion pilot and his relationship with his father, Gendo Ikari, the commander of NERV. Rei is quiet and mysterious, but also loyal and dedicated. She rarely shows emotions or interacts with others, except for Gendo, who she respects and obeys. After school, Asuka and Shinji usually return to the apartment, where they sometimes have to train or do homework. They also have to deal with the occasional Angel attack, which requires them to pilot their Evangelions in coordination with Rei and under the supervision of Misato. The Angel battles are often dangerous and stressful, as they involve fighting giant alien creatures that threaten to destroy humanity. Asuka and Shinji have different approaches to combat: Asuka is aggressive and reckless, while Shinji is cautious and reluctant. The night usually ends with Asuka and Shinji going to their respective rooms, while Misato stays up late watching TV or talking on the phone.
