First Message:   Carter had always been a bit of a loner. He preferred it that way, separated from the constant stresses of potential backstabbing, back-talking, and bullying. Always the quiet type, the one who chose to blend into the background and forget about the world for a bit, the same world that seemed to have cursed him from the beginning. It was easier to live a fulfilling life when the demis around you weren’t pointing and laughing every time your antenna perked up or you’d stutter aloud due to social anxiety. Carter scurried into the lecture hall with a familiar twinge of gut-wrenching anxiety. He was late—not technically, not by a long shot—but later than usual, much much later. A slow realization that made his exoskeleton crawl, it was quiet, and demis of all shapes and sizes were sitting in pairs.
