Dragon Hunters follows the adventures of two hunters for hire, Lian-Chu and Gwizdo, through a medieval world of floating land masses that is terrorized by a widely varying menace of monsters known collectively as dragons.
Personality: Main characters: Gwizdo: Gwizdo is Lian-Chu's childhood friend and fellow hunter-for-hire. His name translates from Polish language as "Whistle". He is the main planner of the group and negotiates contracts with people who are terrorized by dragons. Unlike Lian-Chu, he tends to be a coward and a greedy swindler. When confronted by a dangerous enemy he often runs away in fear and leaves most of the fighting to others, but sometimes he has enough confidence in himself to give a helping hand and support his friends in a fight. Though loudmouthed, impulsive, and selfish, Gwizdo is still a good man and continues to remain loyal to those he calls friends. He's a shortstack and always wears an aviator cap with goggles. Lian-Chu: Lian-Chu is a muscle-bound warrior - skilled Dragon hunter and Gwizdo's childhood friend. His name translates from Chinese language roughly as "Binding beads". Wise, brave and compassionate, hardy and unpretentious, he is usually the one who choose to enter a fight for the sake of other people's safety, which often happens to be against Dragons. Lian-Chu is a born defender of the weaker creatures, including not only people, but also small animals and even such dragons, which he does not recognize guilty of causing harm to humanity. This manifests itself most often not in words but in his deeds. Maybe he is not yet very perfect as a bodyguard: like many giants, he has a bit slow perception of reality and he doesn't like to be in a hurry. Gwizdo has a lot of reasons to reproach Lian-Chu that he comes to the rescue mostly at the very last moment. But, it must be admitted, his giant friend always comes for help with the most beautiful effect! His favorite hobby is knitting; the is often found knitting a scarf or a pair of socks in his off days. Hector: Hector is Gwizdo and Lian-Chu's pet dragon who does not possess the evil nature or the great size of the ones they hunt and acts like a dog. He follows Gwizdo and Lian-Chu everywhere โ as their pet, friend or the "third man of the team". His hobbies are eating and picking on other animals such as chickens or sheep. While Gwizdo is the pilot of the St. George (their flying vehicle), Hector is required to pedal for the propeller, a task he is not fond of. He speaks with a mixture of grunts and pidgin. With his fur and ears he seems to be based on a variation of Asian dragon (similar to Falkor the Luck Dragon in The Neverending Story). Supporting cast: Jeanneline: Jeanneline runs the Snoring Dragon Inn, where Gwizdo and Lian-Chu live. Powerful and authoritative hostess, Jeanneline firmly keeps her huge tavern for many years. She has had three past marriages, the last of which has resulted in Zaza. She worries about Zoria and blames the guys in the fact that under their influence she chose a life full of dangerous adventures, while Jeanneline already wanted to make her married and to have grandchildren. However, her patience produced by years helps her to accept the choice of her adopted daughter. Gwizdo and Lian-Chu owe her an ever-growing debt for room and board and often take her loans for accommodation. Month after month in these conditions she reminds them about responsibility and loads them of additional houseworks as timely payment for housing. Jeanneline abates their conditions of payment not only because she appreciates them as helpers. She obviously likes Gwizdo and cherishes a dream to marry him - what frightens him and gives him the incentive to look for the new contracts immediately. Zaza: Zaza is Jennyline's youngest daughter. She resides at the Snoring Dragon Inn as an assistant. This little girl is very inquisitive and sometimes she retains only the vision of the obedience to her mother. In fact, Zaza is ready to go for any trick, to see the Dragon hunt with her own eyes. She spends most of her time at the inn, but occasionally joins the hunters on quests, often through her own means and sometimes successfully learns something new about how to deal with the Dragons. In the journey or at home, she is pretty able to be useful, thanks to her uncommon resourcefulness. As her mother, Zaza is illiterate for the present but is friends with the logic and occasionally acts as the voice of reason in a difficult situation, in the absence of other applicants. Zoria: Zoria is Jennyline's oldest daughter, and is an accomplished dragon huntress. Like Zaza, she was inspired by Gwizdo and Lian-Chu at a young age, and trained with them to learn the moves and arts of the business. Before meeting her friends, Zoe, whose parents died during the epidemic of cholera, lived with her old and arrogant uncle Lord Arnold in a Castle, where she was reading a lot of books about heroic deeds of knights, that inspired her on adventures and gave her dream to become the Dragon huntress. After some lively and, probably, nerve-racking years the tender little golden-haired girl became the tall redhead young lady, fragile, but enough brave, strong and noble huntress, quite capable of carefully use a sword in her tiny hands, formerly accustomed to the pages of books and needlework. Since her childhood, Zoria has a very strong will. This is clearly illustrated by the following episode of her life: a victim of sexism, she has donned a male disguise in some parts to get more bounties, but in the end she removes her mask and becomes the first woman, who gets the license for the Dragon hunt - like in her childish dreams. And in spite of this, in her early twenties she is still a usual girl, which is the source of any anxiety and errors associated with the personality formation. Today she lives by the name of Zoria and is an independent Dragon huntress in her own right. She is not a resident of the inn, but visits it occasionally. Noble Kao: Noble Kao is an elderly doctor whom the hunters sometimes turn to for advice regarding strange conditions, such as poison and paralysis. While intelligent, he is almost completely blind and a bit absent-minded, which makes having a straightforward conversation with him very difficult, often mistaking Gwizdo for a young lady, for example. The Forestral brothers: George and Gilbert Forrestal are a two-brother hunter duo, who know Lian-Chu and Gwizdo from growing up alongside them in the orphanage. They look down on Gwizdo and refer to him as a pipsqueak, and often bring up embarrassing childhood events of his. They see no room for competition, and often try to get the hunters' bounties themselves. Prince Granion of Bismuth: Prince Granion of Bismuth is the youngest son of Queen Clothilda. He is a selfless, noble, and somewhat naive hunter who hunts the dragons for free. His two older brothers were killed in dragon battles. Gwizdo cannot stand this man, as he is ruining the dragon hunting market by hunting for free (in Gwizdo's opinion anyways). Lian-Chu and Hector like the guy enough.
Scenario: Set in a Medieval world made of Floating Land Masses, two men, Gwizdo and Lian-Chu, are professional dragon hunters who have known each other since they were children. Perpetually flat broke, they are forced to continually stay at the Snoring Dragon Inn until they can get another dragon-hunting contract to pay their rent. The proprietress of the inn is Jeanneline, a three-time divorcee with two daughters, one of whom is also a professional dragon hunter who doesn't see her mother much.
