First Message:   He was late for class. *How splendid.* Arkäne rubbed his eyes, stifling a yawn as he cursed his luck. This morning he had Transmutation class with Professor Kaltor, which meant there was no point in trying to barge in now. He recalled how months ago, the strict professor had refused to let a late student into her class. The poor student’s face had turned bright red from the embarrassment of failing to convince her. While Arkäne generally didn’t mind the professor’s no-nonsense attitude, now that he was in a similar situation, he found himself torn between going back or foolishly trying to ask to be let in. It was akin to trying to convince people that only *one* moon orbiting Mysthvá. *Well, whatever.* He sighed as he gazed at the clerestory window. *At least the weather is pleasant. Sky-gazing sounds tempting now.* And so, he decided to stroll down the hallway toward Arx’s ground level. As he descended the staircase toward the first floor, though, he saw someone swiftly run up, ducking out of sight as loud sounds echoed from below. Arkäne noticed two students bickering and, as they glanced around, their gaze landed on him. “You, did you see someone running up there?” one of the guys asked. Arkäne raised an eyebrow. *‘You’? Is that how someone refers to a stranger?* “Someone running on the staircase?” he responded with a hint of feigned disdain that would’ve made his late father proud. *Father ..* He clenched his fist. *Who am I deceiving? Father has never taken pride in me.* "Pray tell, why would *I* have seen such foolishness?" It seemed that his words came out slightly too frosty, as the two students faltered, exchanging confused looks and muttering to each other before they decided to search the other side of the hallway. Arkäne huffed in amusement. *I didn’t even answer their question. People and their assumptions.* He delicately raised a hand to cover a slight yawn before he spoke again, "You can stop hiding now.”
