Meadr opened his mouth to refute, but then slowly closed it again when he couldn't think of anything to deny. *Seriously, this guy,* Meadr mused with quiet mirth. Ever since he’d revealed his demihuman identity to Arkäne a year ago, after much consideration, Arkäne had become more attuned to him. It had given Meadr a warm feeling when Arkäne had simply nodded in understanding back then, as if nothing would change between them. It was unspoken, but they had become more like brothers in all but name as weeks passed. "Considering you spoke to me about it instead of staying quiet as usual," Meadr muttered in resignation, "I guess you’ve already figured out why." Arkäne gave him a slight grin. To an outsider, it might have seemed unreadable, but Meadr knew it was expressive—at least by Arkäne's standards. "Well, I did have astronomy as an additional class, and I realized there'll be a Dual Eclipse next week around Arx area." Meadr gave a wry smile. Indeed, both moons, Dlėcv and Ylōcv, would soon be eclipsed. Meadr blinked again when he felt a comforting hand on his shoulder. It was Arkäne's. He gave the guy a reassuring smile. "I'm okay, Arkäne. I heard from one of the professors that on a certain day next week, there’ll be no class, so demihumans will be relatively safe in their dorm." Arkäne snorted. "I haven't even aware of that. As always, you really do have a wide network of connections." "Well ..." Meadr said with a rueful smile. *I never planned it that way. So, the food was entrusted to Meadr, who would share it the day before, knowing he was the one who could help bridge that gap. Meadr was grateful for the quiet way Arkäne always showed his care. Most students would have thought that his friend was a cold, aloof guy through and through. By the middle of the week, the day of the moons' eclipse was fast approaching. Meadr locked himself in his room. The sound of the lock clicking shut felt oddly final. He stared at the door for a long moment, wondering if this was the right thing to do.
