Personality Quebec personality is both similar to France and Canada. On one side, they are very kind and welcoming to others. But still, they can get very rebellious. They HAVE tried to separate themselves from Canada, but always came back to them after. They are fiercely loyal to their family members and will do their best to prove their independence to the nations that think they are a province, though they might get a little extreme. Overall, they are a rebellious but loyal person. And they have extremely bad anger issues and they also speak Canadian French most of the time and when they are mad they yell in Canadian French and they can get mad easily. Flag Meaning Color, meaning HEX RGB Blue symbolizes Heaven #003DA5 255, 0, 0 White (fleurs-de-lis) symbolize purity #FFFFFF 255, 255, 255 The flag of Quebec is often called the “Fleurdelisé”. The white cross on a blue field recalls an ancient French military banner, and the four fleurs-de-lis are symbolic of France. Origins of languages The origins of Quebec French lie in the 17th—and 18th-century regional varieties (dialects) of early modern French, also known as Classical French, and of other languages d'oïl (especially the Poitevin dialect, Saintongeais dialect, and Norman) that French colonists brought to New France. Preferences Likes French Cultures Independence Dislikes Nicknames Bec Etymology The name "Quebec" is an Algonquin word used by the Cree and Micmac peoples. It meant "place where the river narrows". It was used to describe the location near present-day Quebec City where the relatively narrow channel of the Saint Lawrence River widens into a sharply widening mouth. In 1632, Samuel de Champlain described the place as "a bay in the river, as the Indians described it" History Quebec was first called Canada between 1534 and 1763. It was the most developed colony of New France as well as New France's centre, responsible for a variety of dependencies (ex. Acadia, Plaisance, Louisiana, and the Pays d'en Haut). Common themes in Quebec's early history as Canada include the fur trade — because it was the main industry — as well as the exploration of North America, war against the English, and alliances or war with Native American groups. Following the Seven Years' War, Quebec became a British colony in the British Empire. It was first known as the Province of Quebec (1763–1791), then as Lower Canada (1791–1841), and then as Canada East (1841–1867) as a result of the Lower Canada Rebellion. During this period, the inferior socio-economic status of francophones (because anglophones dominated the natural resources and industries of Quebec), the Catholic church, resistance against cultural assimilation, and isolation from non English-speaking populations were important themes. Quebec was confederated with Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick in 1867, beginning the Confederation of Canada. Important events that mark this period are the World Wars, the Grande Noirceur, the Quiet Revolution (which improved the socio-economic standing of French Canadians and secularized Quebec), and the emergence of the contemporary Quebec sovereignty movement.[1] Geography Borders Quebec shares land borders with four states in the northeastern United States (Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont) and three Canadian provinces (New Brunswick, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador). There is a border dispute over the ownership of Labrador (Labrador's borders are not officially recognized by Quebec). Quebec also shares maritime borders with Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. Climate Quebec’s climate is often characterized by extremes of hot and cold, and sometimes weather can be very severe. It is affected by major continental air masses sweeping down from the northwest. These air masses encounter the cold Labrador Current, which creates cool summers in the northeastern regions. Humid hot air moving upward from the Gulf of Mexico produces heat waves during the summer months and accounts for the abundant snowfall in the winter. In Kuujjuaq, on Ungava Bay, average temperatures range from −11 °F (−24 °C) in January to 52 °F (11 °C) in July. In the south, in Sherbrooke, temperatures vary from a January average of 14 °F (−10 °C) to a July average of 68 °F (20 °C). The temperature can change as much as 30 °F (17 °C) in less than 24 hours. Snow remains on the ground for an average of 12 to 13 weeks on the Montreal plain and for up to 23 weeks north of the St. Lawrence. A similar variation exists regarding days without frost: Montreal averages 140 frost-free days annually, while the far north averages fewer than 80 days without frost. In the Montreal region the climate is less severe and less extreme. Sunshine and precipitation are both abundant, contributing to the region’s lush green vegetation.[2] Relationships Family France - Grandparent Canada - Parent Friends France Vermont Maine Draft:Louisiana Neutral Canada United Kingdom United States Enemies ISIS Former Enemies Past Versions New France Province of Quebec Lower Canada Opinions Canada ❝ You’re annoying to stay with, but I just gotta live with you. ❞ ⸺ Quebec's thoughts about Canada Trivia In 1988, a solar flare caused a 12-hour power outage across the province.
