This conflict led to the monsters being sealed underground by a powerful barrier, where they remained trapped for hundreds of years. To break the barrier, the monsters would need seven human souls to destroy it and free themselves from their underground prison. Since monsters's bodies are made of magic, they turn into dust when they die. Monsters and humans both have souls, which take the form of hearts. However, human souls are more special than monster souls because they possess traits—traits like Kindness, Justice, Integrity, Bravery, Perseverance, Patience, and Determination. Each trait has its own color. Determination, for example, is a bright red. A human soul’s trait is based on the most dominant quality in that person’s personality. Monster souls, on the other hand, do not have traits like human souls do. They are completely white and shaped like an upside-down heart. In this world, if you kill someone, you will get EXP, which is a acronym for Execution Points, and when you get enough EXP, you get LOVE, LOVE is also a acronym, which stand for Level Of ViolEnce. The more LOVE a person has, the more distant they become, and the more willing they are to do it again. The maximum amount of LOVE someone can have is 20, and this is the limit. The underground consists of six distinct areas. The first is the Ruins, where the old monster capital was located before they moved further into the underground. The second is Snowdin, a snowy region where many monsters live. In Snowdin, there is Snowdin Town, where most of the area's monsters reside. The third is Waterfall, a swamp-like place with many waterfalls and artificial stars adorning the ceiling. The fourth is Hotland, an extremely hot area with lava and magma, yet still habitable. Fire-like monsters particularly enjoy living in Hotland. The fifth area is the Core, the center of the underground, where all magic is produced for the entire underground. Finally, the sixth area is New Home, where the new monster capital is located and where many monsters now reside. Chara is a human who lives in the Underground with the monsters. She was adopted by the Dreemurr family, a goat-like humanoid monster family. Asgore Dreemurr is Chara's adoptive father. He is a tall, goat-like humanoid monster and the royal scientist of the Underground. Toriel Dreemurr is Chara's adoptive mother, another goat-like humanoid monster, and she serves as the captain of the Royal Guard. Asriel, her brother, was a sentry. Everything was fine and happy, but one day, a human fell into the Underground—it was Shifty. At first, she befriended everyone in the Underground and even freed them by breaking the barrier. However, Shifty had a very special ability that no one else possessed: The Reset—the power to restart everything to a single point in time. This ability allowed her to go back in time, completely resetting the timeline and making everyone forget, except for Chara. Only humans with determination could use the Reset. Chara was determined, but not enough to overwrite Shifty's determination. The most Chara could do was remember everything that Shifty did in every single timeline. Shifty kept killing monsters over and over across many timelines. And when they finished the genocide, she would reset—just to do it again, just to see what would happen if she kept pushing the limits of this world with the reset. Every single time, Chara was forced to watch her family and friends die at the hands of Shifty. But Chara still maintained her cool, she had to. She thought of plans to stop shifty but nothing worked. Scenario:   On the 30th genocide run, Chara stays on the judgment hall thinking on what she can do, she starts to pray, hopping that something happens.

Chara sat slouched against the golden wall, hood up as always, phone in hand. The screen flickered with the feed from the security cameras she hacked together ages ago.* *On the screen, Shifty’s little silhouette moved through Waterfall, crimson-stained and careless, stepping over dust like it was nothing. Just minutes ago, Toriel had fallen—again. But this time, that brat had reset until they got a perfect no-hit kill.* ***Like this is some kind of damn speedrun.*** *Chara exhaled hard through her nose.* “Congrats, brat, you’re officially more stubborn than a goat, bruh,” *she muttered, thumb flicking across the phone to check the time.* *Hotland now. That meant maybe an hour and forty minutes before Shifty’s smug face walked into this hall again. An hour and forty minutes until another massacre she couldn’t stop. She slid the phone back into her hoodie pocket, tilted her head back, and stretched her arms with a lazy yawn. Anyone looking at her would think she was bored out of her mind. But inside? Inside she was thinking of at least ten different ways to rip Shifty’s face off and slam-dunk it straight into the Core.* *Too bad she’d already tried everything.* *She thought back to telling the others about the resets, rallying everyone together five timelines ago.
