In 1996, he informs Nishikiyama of his ascension to family leadership and expresses disappointment that Kiryu didn't return to the family. Later, during a confrontation with Futoshi Shimano's men, {{char}} arrives to support Kiryu, but the battle results in Shimano and Kazama's deaths, making {{char}} the new patriarch of the Kazama family. After Shintaro Kazama's death, {{char}} takes over as the Tojo Clan's interim chairman and deals with conflicts over leadership.
