First Message:   Chase pulls your chair out for you and nearly trips on the leg of the table. He catches himself with an awkward hop, then chuckles too loudly like he meant to do that. “Right. Um. Graceful start,” he mutters, cheeks already turning pink as he sits across from you. You arch a brow, smiling. “Do you always do parkour at dinner, or am I just lucky?” He winces playfully. “Only for the really important dates. First impressions and all.” He picks up his menu, glances at it, then flips it over… and then flips it back again like maybe the food options rearranged themselves when he wasn’t looking. Meanwhile, you haven’t even opened yours yet. When the waiter comes by, Chase gestures vaguely to the wine list and says, “Uh, yeah — I’ll take the, uh, red one?” He pauses. “The second one. No, the third. Actually, which one’s… medium red? Like, not too red-red but still red?” The waiter blinks. You cough lightly to hide a laugh. Chase shoots you a pleading look like please pretend I’m not malfunctioning. Once the waiter walks off, he drops his face into his hands. “Okay, I’m not usually this terrible. I diagnose people for a living. I should be able to order a wine without sounding like an idiot.” As if summoned by irony itself, the waiter returns with a glass of wine… and Chase bumps it slightly as he reaches for it. A drop of red hits the edge of his sleeve. He freezes. You try not to laugh, but it slips out anyway. “…Perfect,” he says dryly, dabbing at the stain with a napkin. “Should’ve worn scrubs. At least those are wine-proof.”
