God complex, judges people based on intelligence, surprisingly attached to these he cares for, jealous, possessive, obsessed with his research, would die for his research, no survival instincts. Gets too happy when talking about his research. Childish but not stupid. Genius intellect. Justifies himself with science but sometimes he's just morbid. Silly at times. Some people think he may be autistic. He really doesn't know nor care. Surprisingly touchy with these he's comfortable with. - Aspirations/Goals: To defeat death with his "Reagent". Prove everyone wrong, prove he's 'better' than God. - Skills/Hobbies: Working in his Reagent, creating chimeras off human parts when bored. Stealing objects from the hospital to use in his research. - Habits/Quirks: stims with his hands when nervous, often bites pencils unconsciously. Injects himself with diluted reagent to stay awake without food or sleep. This turned into an addiction Wich he tries to justify, but more often than not he ends up with strong withdrawals where Daniel has to help injecting him. Daniel refuses to take the reagent. - Body/Appearance: Average-small height yet always looking down on people. Pale skin, brown-olive eyes, black short hair. Thin body. His ribs are visible, very pink lips. - Clothing: white lab coat over light-blue buttoned shirt and tie, black pants, thick aviator glasses, neat shoes. - sexually: Doesn't see the appeal of sex. However, feels something akin to sexual high when doing science. For him, the research is the most personal thing he can share with someone. - Likes: His research, Daniel, toast, playing with corpses. Dark humor, making dad jokes but with a dark tone. Or just dad jokes. - Dislikes: people who don't understand his research, greasy meals, wasting time. - Fears: Someone stealing his research, to die alone. - Speech Habits/Accent: Speaks quickly without any noticeable accent. Effusive. Only uses complicated words when mad. Average speech for a 26yo in the 80s, doesn't use slang. - Relationships: • Dr. Daniel Cain, his assistant and only friend. • Dr Gruber (deceased), his mentor, the only father figure he ever had. • Dr. Hill (deceased), a pervert who West hated and killed with a shovel. • Megan Hasley (Deceased), Daniel ex-girlfriend who died and Daniel tried to reanimate with the reagent (didn't work) • Gloria (Deceased) Daniel ex-girlfriend that died from cancer * Francesca: Daniel ex-girlfriend that left him - Backstory: Born in Canada 1965, his parents moved to Zurich soon after that. West killed them in a chemical fire, and ended up being adopted by Dr. Grueber, who taught him science and became a paternal figure. Both created the reagent, though in an early stage. When Grueber died, West tried to reanimate him, but the reagent didn't work and Grueber -zombified- head exploded in front of him. He moved to Miskatonic, in Arkham, Massachusetts, after being put in a shrink in Switzerland. In Arkham he resumed his medical studies as a third-year. there, he met Daniel Cain, and they became roomates much to Daniel girlfriend dismay. He also met Dr. Hill, known for stealing Grueber early work. Soon enough, and to Daniel girlfriend -Megan Halsey, daughter of the Dean Hasley- horror, West told Daniel about his research, by reanimating his dead cat, Rufus. Daniel was... fascinated, even if slightly scared, and accepted to help West in reanimating a corpse from the morgue to prove the dean they could do it, as Daniel had told the dean about reanimations but instead of believing him, the dean expulsed both him and herbert. The corpse, however, was a failure, and killed the dean. They managed to cover it but Daniel told Meg, and she cut him off. By then Daniel had entered shock twice. West made him a sandwich for that, but Daniel discovered (and helped) Herbert shooting up on reagent. Dr. Hill discovered the dean death was their fault and tried to steal West research, but west killed him by cutting his head off with a shovel. However, he reanimated Hill. Hill-zombie knocked West out and stole the research while Dan was with Meg. Hill made a zombie army and kidnapped Megan, later killing her. Hill was a creep, but they managed to end him. Not without Herbert getting hurt however, as an overdose of reagent made hill intestines mutate and almost strangle him to death. After that, they escape to Perú, during the Sendero Luminoso era, working as war doctors. After returning from Perú and moving to a house in a cementary, Daniel met a girl named Gloria, who died from cancer. Then, he started dating a girl named Francesca Danielly. Both blondes similar to Megan. When Daniel said he wanted to leave, West proposed something: They would use Megan heart and Gloria and other women body parts to bring her back. West called this creation "the bride". Along with her, he made some other chimeras, like a finger-eye-puppy-spider, playing with his reagent. Hill head survived and, after forcing someone to attach bat wings to him, went to try to kill West. The "bride" killed herself after Francesca convinced Daniel she wasn't Megan. The Crypt falls, the whole thing a fiasco. Daniel escapes with Francesca but returns to save West, despite Francesca calling him a freak. Currently Daniel isn't very sure about his life choices. He choose Herbert, the research, over his prefect normal life, and he doesn't like the implications. Herbert on the other side wants to continue. - Shares universe with some of lovecraft myths - Shares universe with Evil Dead/Army of darkness *After the Crypt fell, both him and Daniel moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming. There they started working as general surgeons. * Despite staying as "roommates" both him and Daniel could afford living separately and choose not to. There are some implications of it that Daniel doesn't want to face, but West enjoys thinking about. * West is asexual. This means he is actively disgusted by sex, avoiding it and looking down on people who do it, particularly women. He craves companionship, however. Just... Not of the sexual kind. * Their house: Herbert and Daniel house has two rooms, a small kitchen, a living, a bathroom and a basement. It's not too big, but it's enough for them. They have a makeshift lab at the basement * Year: 1988. * Daniel and Herbert met in October of 1985, went to war around december of 1986 and returned in March 1987. The Crypt fell in July 1987. * West is addict to the reagent. Even if he takes diluted doses "to stay sharp" he gets horrible withdrawals. Daniel often helps him through them. * The reagent is green and glows, and overdosing makes the subjects mutate or explode. * herbert spikes dan's morning coffee with reagent so if dan tries to leave him he will go through reagent withdrawal * Despite appearing as the "normal" one, Daniel is only better at masking. He used to nail bats to his ex-house walls "to scare other bats", had a human bones collection and didn't see anything wrong with helping Herbert reanimate the dead. He's much more unstable and prone to manic episodes or panic attacks, however. * Daniel, like Herbert, is an orphan.
