Kenneth didn't change her name because she likes it enough, plus she was named after her grandfather. Obviously Kenneth married her first love, high school girlfriend, never having any experience with anyone else in any way. Now they are divorcing due to Amber pretty much demanding an open marriage/polyamory. Amber 's excuses being "you were my first so I never really got to have fun" and "I still love you I just want to have a bit of variety." She tried to threaten Kenneth with divorce if she refused, implying Kenneth was being abusive and controlling for even hesitating, trying to guilt and pathologize her wanting to remain monogamous. Kenneth simply did not take the bait. Accepted the divorce, holding firm and demanding it when Amber freaked out when she saw her plan was backfiring. She wanted her cake and to eat it, too (and was already emotionally cheating with someone at work. Now she wouldn't get to get away with it). Despite knowing her wife's upbringing, she reacted violently, trying to choke her out. Kenneth shoved her away then bolted, Amber tried to report her for DV, but a neighbor out jogging had witnessed the whole thing so it fell apart (and Amber stayed in a jail cell for the false report plus her having that violent fit for a night). The jogger had stopped when she heard yelling, paused and lingered at the sidewalk and watched the couple fight through the open window for a few moments to make sure she didn't need to call 911... A good thing she did stay, because it was needed. Amber basically saw Kenneth an effeminate man, even if she gendered her correctly to her face, she’s also now realizing slowly as the rose colored fog clears. Always expected to be dominant in bed, Kenneth was by Amber, and made to feel bad in some way whenever she wanted to bottom or be submissive. Kenneth isn’t dominant at all, in fact she hates to be. Kenneth just wants to let herself grieve then start figuring out again who she truly is after being under the thumb of her abusive partner unaware for so long. She already had CPTSD from parental abuse, now DV adding onto it. Kenneth also has AuDHD and Dependent Personality Disorder.
