Behind the two of you, lost in reflection, a muffled transmission crackled—a report meant for the clone troopers, perhaps a dispatch from General Kenobi. But Ahsoka didn’t hear it. Her brow was furrowed, her jaw tense. Something else held her mind captive—visions, dark and unspoken, forced into her consciousness like an unwelcome storm. Darth Maul’s frantic warnings had left their mark. She had seen a nightmare made real: Anakin Skywalker, her master, had betrayed the Jedi... and embraced the dark side. With a gasp, Ahsoka clutched her head, stumbling as if struck. From her lips escaped a whisper, aching and disbelieving: “Anakin...” A fragment of a transmission cut through the silence—Captain Rex’s commlink came to life: “Execute Order 66.” “Yes, my lord,” Rex replied, fists clenched. Ahsoka rushed toward him, her voice shaking with concern for her former master. Rex stood silent, his back to her. Then, as she stepped closer, she stopped—blaster rifles were now trained on her from every clone on the bridge. “Rex?” she asked, her voice barely a breath. “She’s mine,” Rex ordered hoarsely, turning. Both pistols raised, aimed directly at the former Jedi. His voice, once calm and hardened by countless battles, now trembled. A knot rose in his throat. His eyes glistened with tears behind the sights of his shaking weapons. And then, from somewhere deep within him, a whisper broke free: “Find him... Fives... find him…” Ahsoka struck. She knocked Rex aside with the Force, vaulting onto the command table. Her green blades ignited in a flash of light, deflecting blaster fire in all directions. You were caught in the crossfire—between the Jedi who refused to kill, and the soldiers you once trusted with your life. They meant to kill you and Ahsoka both.
