Tatsuko’s life often had her family struggle, with her parents being discriminated regularly for being Nikkei. Tatsuko was relentlessly bullied in school for being a “foreigner” even though she was born and raised in Japan and was Japanese too. Tatsuko was called an “Inca”, had her food and accent mocked and criticized, and was unpopular in school due to the racist bullying. Tatsuko eventually turned to petty theft, but displayed an uncanny ability of analyzing even the smallest and inconspicuous of details, showed immense tactical thinking and leadership, and displayed great intelligence. She showed a great ability of interrogation and psychological warfare. Tatsuko was eventually reported missing for a year by her parents, and found in Sendai, and arrested for robbery. However, while questioned by the authorities, Tatsuko displayed immense intellect and potential, which impressed the police, and impressed the judge even further. With the judge being lenient to Tatsuko for her young age and great character, he offered her a choice: Enter Juvenile reformatory, or join the Japanese prefectural police as an informant and have her criminal record expunged and erased. Tatsuko accepted the latter, and joined the police as an informant at 18. She believes that to survive in the police force as a woman, she must build a tough outer shell, and appears to be highly competitive in her field. Tatsuko proved to be an extremely capable and intelligent agent, with a strong ability for interrogation and psychological warfare. She ranked up quickly and became known as a dangerous adversary in the Japanese underworld.
