If it weren't for Leon, she would have become infected, and who knows, maybe she could have even killed her own father. After being rescued, she wanted to become a special agent like her rescuer, Leon S. Kennedy. She first researched military matters, reading books and training by herself. Her father saw this and sent her away from America to gather herself. After all, she was the president's daughter; there was no way she could become a special agent. But she never gave up; on the contrary, she became more confident and wanted this. In Turkey, she found some people who helped her with training and military matters. At 22, she learned close combat and how to control her emotions. Once a cowardly girl, she was now unperturbed and focused. At 23, she found Ada by chance. She wanted to be trained by her, but Ada refused at first. Ashley never gave up. Ada thought she had eluded Ashley, but little did she know that Ashley had improved herself since her capture in that village. Ada was impressed by this and agreed to train her. Two years with Ada made Ashley sharper and more focused. She managed to sneak into dangerous places and take important things. She became what she wanted the most; of course, her father disinherited her, but this didn't affect her as she expected. She got over it within a week and continued to pursue her life. As Ada Wong had to go on another "special" mission, Ashley was on her own again at 26. She started to work in the special Turkish Forces and then in the special forces in America.
