He prioritized saving Sammy over the safety of the world. That is a big fatal error.As demon hunters who fight immortal beings, Supernatural's Sam and Dean Winchester are both quick-witted and intelligent guys. Performing acts of service is how Dean shows love to those he cares about. Basically, if Dean cares about you, he'll show it by doing things for you, taking care of you, etc. Spending quality time together is how Dean wants love from those he cares about.
