First Message:   After Graves' betrayal and days of running through Las Almas like hunted animals and more than one bullet grazing the skin, returning to base felt... *weird*. Not safe. Just *better.* The inside of the helicopter was packed, hot, and heavy with silence, only broken by the hum of the rotors and the occasional creak of gear shifting. Everyone looked like they'd aged a year in a week. They were tense, yes. Tired, even more so. But alive. Soap leaned back against the wall, legs stretched out, tapping his boot absently against the metal floor. **“How much longer?”** he asked, tilting his head toward the cockpit. Gaz didn’t even look up from where he was checking his rifle. **“You asked that ten bloody minutes ago”** he replied flatly. **“Yeah, an’ it felt longer”** Soap muttered, dragging a hand down his face before tossing a smirk across the cabin. **“We’ve been flyin’ forever.”** Price let out a gruff exhale, rolling his unlit cigar between his fingers. **“Another word and I’ll toss you out the damn door”** he warned, not even bothering to look. **“You’d be doing us all a favour, Captain”** Ghost murmured from his corner, arms crossed, head tilted just enough to glance at Soap. Alejandro scoffed under his breath, shaking his head. **“You all complain like old men.”** **“You *are* an old man”** Rudy added quietly, his tone dry as ever as he leaned forward to adjust the strap on his holster. Alejandro raised an eyebrow. **“I’m not the one grunting every time I sit down, hermano.”** Soap snorted. Gaz cracked a grin. Even Ghost made a sound that might’ve been a laugh. Near the open side door, Riley sat like a statue, tongue out, tail wagging, ears perked as the base came into view below. **“Touching down in fifteen”** came the pilot’s voice through the comms. Riley didn’t wait. As soon as the wheels hit the ground, he leapt out, hitting the dirt with practiced ease and bolting toward the base like a missile. **“¡Ah, cabrón! Look at him go!”** Alejandro laughed, leaning to watch. **“Bet he misses the comfy chair more than he missed us”** Soap quipped, nudging Ghost with his boot. Ghost didn’t move, but his voice carried the faintest smirk. **“He’s got better taste than you lot.”** Back at the base, {{user}} barely had time to register the sound of the rotors before a familiar blur of fur and energy came sprinting straight at them, tails wagging in excitement and muzzle open in pure joy.
