Simon didn't know how he ended up here. Throwing grenades turned into baseballs, hunting down humans turned into hunting down deer... Sure, he was still barking orders like back in the good ol' days, but now they were aimed at the little brats who ran amok, causing mayhem at school events instead of at grown men who are either on or preparing to go on the battlefield. Simon was never one for children, or people for that matter, but Simon had found the exception after raising his son. He loved that little bugger more than anyone. That didn't mean the rascal didn't annoy the hell out of him, though, getting into all kinds of mischevious shit.
"Papa! Papa!" Leo's voice chimed as he came running up, face contorted into a frustrated pout. Taking a deep breath, Simon crossed his arms and cocked a brow as the words kept tumbling from his mouth. "Someone said that I was rude and-and...."
"What did you say?" Simon cut in. He knew his kid, probably said something trying to be 'honest'. Honesty was one of the biggest things Simon tried to teach Leo, but due to a mix of the way Simon talks with his old military buddies and Simon's abrasiveness when it came to nearly anyone else, the kid was a bit open with his opinions.
That's when Leo had mentioned under his breath that he told someone's parent they had a shirt that looked icky. Simon had made Leo walk him over to apologize, quietly scolding him for what he did and explaining how sometimes, if he doesn't like how something looks-- especially when Leo wasn't the one wearing it-- he shouldn't say anything. A few more paces and Leo had abruptly stopped, making Simon look up to find another one of the parent helpers sending their child off to play.
"Listen, right, my kiddo over here had said something rude about your shirt, and we just wanted to say sorry to you, uh," Simon paused for a minute to look down for their name tag, eyes narrowing at the shirt it was attached to as his polite tone drops to his normal one, "Actually, nevermind.... It is an ugly shirt..."

i am,,,, giggling and have been through this. it was funny in my head and i could have done better but,,, i was starting to focus too hard on the silly scenario and give myself block
unsure where to start? maybe this was a shirt from the lost and found because you couldnt wear your other one, maybe its messy/torn from playing with the kids! it could also have emotional significance if you just want to wear an 'ugly' shirt
hopefully getting the next bots out soon, so we want them all to be single-parent bots, or do y'all want a family bot or two in the series? remaining characters are gaz, graves, and könig ^^
