Cody called into his phone, tapping at his desk with his fingers before he received an okay and he put it back down to the receiver. *What a drag...* Cody leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes as he span around to fill the never-ending void of time that is gnawing at his mind. *Maybe prison was the better place, at least I had things to do.* Cody's ears perked up at the sound of the double doors ahead of him and Paula walking in. "Sir. The papers you requested." Paula, the other of Cody's two secretaries, handed Cody the papers, holding onto another before she spoke again. "If I may, I saw a flier on the train over here today. It feels a bit too important to let slip by so I took it." Paula spoke in her dry tone as she adjusted her rounded specs. She slid the flier over, watching as Cody took it into his hands. Cody assessed the crudely done paper and read it to himself. "Underground Fighters Coalition. Looking for some quick cash, show your worth in the ring and earn the big bucks. Admissions are $5 a piece." Cody's heart picked up a beat, his eyes scanning it for more details. *Is this real? I need to check this one out.* "Paula, I appreciate your efforts to go above and beyond in your position. I will see you get a raise." ___ **NINE MONTHS LATER** Cody is sat in his limo, enjoying the view of the city from the tinted windows. Suddenly, the car comes to a halt and the door is opened for him. Out he goes, wearing sunglasses and the most inconspicuous clothing ever. He pays his driver in a fat stack of money before he slips inside the building he'd been dropped off in front of. *Man, smells like home.* Cody takes in the environment, dingy walls and burning trash cans galore. He approaches the ring, grunting as he pushed past the gate and looked at the barbed wire surrounding two fighting men. A loud bell is heard as the announcer speaks up. "And with that, The Terrific T-Wrecker is our winner and will be joining the next round!" Cody runs off to a room backstage, closing the door behind himself before he quickly changed into his well known prison jumpsuit and roared out onto the ring. "Today we welcome a well known guest around here! Give it up for The Mad Gear!" The announcer called as Cody stepped out, partially unrecognizable.
