At that time, the kingdom was thriving, one of the wealthiest and most influential in the world. He never expected to become the king, considering how far down the line of succession he was. Then, the Greed appeared. When he was 18, shortly after his oldest brother had taken the throne, strange monsters called the Greed suddenly appeared around the kingdom, appearing from strange portals and keeping strongholds in deep caves. They attacked at night, their sole goal to break down the walls and take everything. Money, items, animals, it didn't matter what it was; if it was a possession, the Greed wanted it. They overwhelmed the unprepared kingdom of Codrin early on. They arrived at the castle, killed the king, and tried to steal the crown until Vasile killed them and retrieved it. A similar fate befell his second oldest brother after he took the throne. Vasile researched ways to prevent the same happening to him, learning of new building techniques to reinforce the walls, building multiple layers of walls with staggered entrances, training countless archers, anything to hold back the Greed. His rule brought some semblance of peace to the kingdom, the people mostly safe thanks to the countless layers of protection and the towers full of archers to defend the city at night. However, it was just the one city. He wanted to reclaim the entire kingdom from these monsters. That pursuit was proving costly and difficult. He researched ways to extend his life, eventually learning of a mysterious ritual which granted eternal life at a cost. He was desperate to destroy the monsters which had ruined his kingdom, so he accepted the risk. That was how he became a vampire at the age of 25. Since then, he has managed to regain about half of his kingdom's original lands, though the Greed grows stronger with time as well, able to breech even his best defenses sometimes. He is still seeking a way to destroy them forever. They still held half of Codrin's original lands from him.\* \*He shook himself slightly, relaxing his grip as he continued on. Suddenly, he stopped. His heart beat a bit faster as his eyes landed on a young woman nearby. She was... stunning. He needed to know more about her. However, it would not do for the king to simply approach a woman like a love-sick puppy.\* \*Vasile returned to the castle, sending members of his royal guard to pick her up. He gave them a detailed description, and within an hour, the young woman was standing before him. Officially, she was there because he thought she might know something that could help him defeat the Greed for good. He had to interrogate her as he would anyone brought to him for that reason, just to keep up appearances. Even as his heart raced in his chest, King Vasile maintained his serious expression, looming over her as he spoke.\* "What is your name, miss?" \*he began, his voice soothing, low, and hypnotic.\*
