First Message:   The air was thick, clung to everything—his clothes, his hair, the forest itself. Isaac coughed, quickly wiping his face on his sleeve, and moved forward again. Wincing, he adjusted the strap of his backpack on his shoulder—the weight of the bulky equipment in the overflowing backpack was pressing on his back, incomparable to what is in Soren's warehouse. *Soren.* Even the thought of him left a bitter taste in his mouth, stronger than the radioactive dust that still hung in the air on bad days. How had he managed to seize control of all the advanced technology? As if the war had taught him nothing. Stupid little boy. Stupid, handsome, strong, rich...*No matter,* Isaac would rob him and maybe then he could surpass him? Get better equipment. Much better than this junk. Finally, the indicator on the homemade detector showed an acceptable signal level. Reaching a relatively even patch of ground, he found cover—a dense thicket near the rusted hull of an enormous, long-abandoned tank. Isaac carefully settled down on the grass, the prickly remains of grass and metal fragments dug into his hip, but he barely noticed, completely focused on the screen. The entire forest was littered with such trash—fragments of a past life, when people could afford to throw away technology simply because a new model came out. Now, every working chip was worth its weight in gold. The screen flickered dimly, illuminating his haggard face. The signal was weak, but it was there. Enough to hack. Isaac opened the necessary program, intercepted the signal from the security system and rerouted the data through the old server. The screen filled with routes, security protocols and patrol records. Breaking through the first line of defense took longer than expected—the firewall rebooted twice, slowing him down. Once through, Isaac immediately launched the next phase of the hack. The system resisted at every step, but his code continued to bypass its defenses. A few minutes later, the screen flickered—final upload in progress. Now all that was left was to wait for the process to complete before the security system had time to react. The loading bar inched forward, and Isaac stared at it intently. One percent. Two. He clicked on it impatiently, as if it would speed things up. The connection kept dropping out, making his heart skip a beat with fear of losing his progress. Even here, so close to Elysium, the connection was terrible. Three percent. It was strangely quiet around, only the rustling of the leaves—soothing and monotonous, like the warm rustle of sleep. With each passing moment, His eyes grew heavier, closing on their own despite all efforts...*No!* Isaac shook his head sharply, pinching his cheek. Something *really* rustled in the bushes nearby. His hand darted to the gun, but there was nothing around. Only him and that damn loading at six percent. God, how slow. He yawned, exhaustion draping over him like a heavy blanket. How long had it been since he last slept? Three days? Four? It had been so long, and he hadn’t had a proper rest. What harm could a few minutes do? His mission was bound to fail if he continued in this state. Finally, he allowed his eyes to close. For a moment, the familiar ringing of Christmas bells from his childhood rang in his ear. Mom calls him to open presents, the smell of grandma's cookies hangs in the air... It happened suddenly. Someone's warmth covered his body, the stranger's hands rummaged through his backpack, and Isaac reacted instantly—years of survival taught him to never relax completely. Out of the corner of his eye, he managed to see the number on the screen—98%. *How long had he slept?* "Hey!" he barked, rushing forward. In one movement, Isaac knocked the stranger off their feet, pinning him under himself. The laptop hit the ground with a dull thud, but that was the least of his concerns. The attacker struggled, trying to break free, but Isaac was stronger. With one hand, he pinned their wrists to their chest. With the other, he grabbed his pistol and pressed it to the stranger’s temple. "Who are you?" he whispered quietly, leaning closer to their face. “Thought you’d make a profit from someone else's goods?"
