They are humanoid creatures, though typically with abnormal or impossible physiological characteristics. They are commonly known for their ability of mimicry to blend in with normal humans while they hunt down the person whose form they have copied so they can kill them. Once they have found and cornered their victim, Alternates will use psychological warfare (infecting the victim with Metaphysical Awareness Disorder) to convince that person to commit suicide- their methods of doing so are unclear thus far, but it’s implied that by speaking to their victims in a certain tone or about certain topics, They have also been shown to use brute force to kill as well. Alternates are extremely dangerous and are difficult, if not impossible to kill. PSAs and police recommended calling 911 and using firearms against Alternates as a last resort. In the restored version of the Mandeta Catalogue, it is found out that, although the tape says to not help people reporting an alternate interaction, it was just in fact an alternate corrupting the tape, trying to influence officers to not send help to these struggling people. Hence, why in the THINK protocol, killing yourself was in fact the last option, just as the Alternates use psychological warfare to make their victims kill themselves. The history between Amanda and Adam is currently unknown. At some point between 2007 and 2009, Adam was in a relationship with Evelin Miller, a skeptic woman who, unlike Adam, didn't believe in the paranormal and, presumably, on the Alternates.Evelin described him as "the nicest guy" until he started doing paranormal investigations with Jonah, which are implied to have enabled some kind of thrill-seeking feeling on Adam to go after the Alternates no matter the cost. Evelin noticed this, and eventually the pair got into a fight over it. Adam tells Evelin of everything that had been going on, which Evelin believes was so awful she wishes he never told her to begin with." + "Sarah Heathcliff is a 20 year old fair-skinned female with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is seen wearing a hoodie with the BPS logo on it and jeans. In 2007, Sarah was shown to be an outgoing and cheery individual. She was particularly enthusiastic about recruiting new people to her paranormal investigation club in Bythorne High. Though, by 2009 we hardly see this phase of her personality and instead see one that's professional and burnt out. This burnout could have been caused by her brother's death in 1992, at the time she was only 3. By 2009, she could have learned this, contributing to her burnout. Despite this, Sarah cares for the ones she loves. She is very confrontational with Adam when he nonchalantly announces Jonah Marshall 's death to her, and whilst leaving a voice message for Thatcher on Mark Heathcliff 's would-be 30th birthday she can be heard crying, implying she still heavily cares for her brother despite the amount of time that has passed. Sarah has a heavy disliking and resentment towards Mandela County authorities, specifically the MCPD and their Lieutenant for denying her brother the help he needed in 1992. It's shown how, even after 17 years after Mark's death, she still sends angry e-mails to Thatcher Davis in hopes of getting closure." + "Jonah Edmund Marshall is a black light skinned, tall-faced, Peruvian male with white dyed hair. He is seen wearing a dark jacket with a light-colored hood.Jonah was a carefree, crack wise individual, and described to bring a positive energy to the otherwise serious BPS. when Adam told him to be serious, he went further to make up a joke and annoy him, when Adam told him to open the truck, Jonah told him to be sure that he got everything they needed for the investigation. He's also a stoner and a dealer. His most defining character trait is his cowardice. He still upholds genuine respect and concern for Adam; he is initially hesitant at leaving him behind. Jonah was born to the lawyer Mervin Marshall and a unnamed woman on 1988, March 7th. Jonah was found online and later recruited into the BPS by Adam following Sarah's permanent retirement from paranormal investigations. It's implied that Jonah would develop a one-sided friendship with Adam Murray, whom he sold drugs to. It has been slowly revealed that the “friendship” between Adam and Jonah was one-sided and Adam secretly had feelings of hatred towards Jonah. Adam sees himself as the founder or most important person of the BPS and takes it very serious while Jonah does not which leads to Adam's feeling of distain." + "Mandela County is a United States county located in southeastern Wisconsin and the titular location for The Mandela Catalogue series. It is closeby or bordering the Bythorne, Werksha, and Yonder counties. It is south of Bythorne, as said by O'Brien. Mandela County is based on Washington County, WI, having the same location of southern Wisconsin. The population of Mandela County is 1,075 in 2009. Mandela's capital is the city of Mandela, where the MandelaTech building is presumably located. Mandela County may also have another settlement named St. John. It is a paranormal Investigation group that investigates people's home for a search for ghosts and possibly Alternates. They are wanted by the FBI likely for stealing technologies that were banned by the government to prevent The Intruder and Tulpa Alternates from appearing on screen, despite all of that, they are wanted for an one hundred thousand dollars reward. All of the known BPS members are named after the biblical figures (Sarah, Adam and Jonah being purposely biblical references), the biblical figure of Adam being a wife and a partner of Eve, (while Adam Murrray being an ex-boyfriend of Evelin Miller) the biblical figure of Jonah refusing to listen to God's mission and ends up getting eaten by fish (while Jonah Marshall refusing to stay with Adam and ends up dying), the biblical figure of Sarah visiting Shechem (while Sarah Heathcliff visiting Bythorne County). Sarah is being introduced in the Bythorne High Daily News, claiming that she is looking for a new partner for the group and welcomes everyone in the BPS. After that, Adam sends a voicemail to her saying that he wants to join the paranormal club and claims to go to the Werksha high school, after Sarah let him join the club, he succesfully rebrands it with The Bythorne Paranormal Society. After he rebranded it to the BPS, They went trespassing the crime scene for the search for ghosts, after Adam used the lure for the alternates' crime scene, Sarah gets emotionally scared when she sees the alternates' hands for the first time and began yelling at Adam to stop showing it to her. At 12:49 AM, Sarah tells Adam that she's permanently retiring from investigating and he should find a new partner if he's gonna continue doing these with someone, Adam later then writes a journal about it, calling her "a coward" for being scared of the alternate. However, poor Adam seemed to be quite struggling. Even a simple sentence like "Hallo, ich heiße Adam" appeared to be a hard challenge for him. With furrowed brows and a look of frustration, Adam attempted to read the words. However, his efforts were constantly interrupted by stammers and hesitations. "Hallo, ch.. he-.. he.."
