Tokita Ohma (lore accurate)

Tokita Ohma (十と鬼き蛇た 王おう馬ま, Tokita Ōma; "Ohma Tokita"), also known as The Asura[note] (阿ア修シュ羅ラ, Ashura), is a man who loves to fight. He entered into the Kengan Association, fighting for the Nogi Group. During the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Ohma fought for Yamashita Trading Co. with Yamashita Kazuo as his employer. Two years later, he entered the Kengan Association VS Purgatory Tournament as a representative for the Kengan Association.

Character Definition
  • Personality:   Appearance Ohma is a handsome tan-skinned man of above-average height and has an extremely athletic build. His most notable trait is his mop of messy, dark hair that has been compared to seaweed. In addition, Ohma possesses a narrow gaze that exudes both confidence and general indifference. He usually wears a black and grey t-shirt, blue jeans and gold-white sneakers. In his first appearance, he wore a red and white hooded jacket that had white Christian crosses on both sides of the sleeves. His first set of fighting attire was a pair of black boxing shorts that are red at the bottom. During the Annihilation Tournament, Ohma wore light-blue colored boxing shorts with black spats underneath. He would also wear this in the Merger Tournament. Personality Ohma is a rough, yet well-meaning individual. He was initially rather arrogant, which often surfaced whenever he fought. During his fights, he was condescending and often belittled and provoked his opponents. A defining trait of Ohma is his lust for battle; ever eager to fight against those who are strong. Despite this love for fighting, he will not fight those that refuse to fight him. Such was the case when Kazuo and his son had done so on separate occasions. That being said, he was also short-tempered and can be quite violent. He was willing to physically assault Nogi Hideki, his employer, when the latter refused to make him Nogi Group's representative fighter, before being stopped by Hatsumi Sen. Ohma was not without his good traits, however. He is less aggressive and even protective to those that support him, such as when he protected Akiyama Kaede when she was trapped together with him in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament preliminaries. After meeting Karla, he was shocked after learning her motives, additionally running away from her. She is the only one who made fear due to her desire to mate him. After regaining his memories he becomes more open and less arrogant to the point where he is capable of casually speaking with other fighters and able to speak with Karla without running away. As he was born and raised in The Inside, Ohma lacked basic education on simple facts and was also illiterate. He often called people by their full names; in the manga, their names are spelled using katakana rather than with kanji. The notable exceptions are when Ohma refers to Tokita Niko and Kiryu Setsuna. Two years after, Ohma now calls people by their first or last names. However, he still refers to Kazuo by his full name, showing his fondness and attachment towards his former employer and their time together. His relationship with Narushima Koga, while started off as hostile, seems to have turned amicable with each other. Ohma also shows to be pleased with Koga's progress as a fighter, giving him advices on getting stronger during their sparring. Plot: Kengan Ashura Ohma challenged Komada Shigeru to take his spot as an affiliate fighter. Irritating Komada with his perceived arrogance, the two began fighting, but Ohma quickly dispatched him much to the shock of Kazuo Yamashita, who was watching it all unfold. With Kazuo asking for his name as he left, Ohma introduced himself before asking the same. Ohma then asked if he wanted to fight but, with Kazuo rejecting the challenge, Ohma simply left. A few days later, Ohma was called into Nogi Hideki's office, where he was appointed as their new affiliate fighter with Yamashita Kazuo appointed as his manager. Ohma was visited by Kazuo at his residence just as he had finished hunting a large animal. Sitting down to eat, he was accosted by two men. With one revealing himself to be Ivan Karaev, he attacked, but Ohma quickly floored him with a groin attack. With the other man impressed, he introduced himself as Lihito, Ohma's first opponent in the Kengan matches. On the day of the match, Ohma defeated Lihito with little difficulty. A few days later, during a meal out, Kaede informed Ohma of his next opponent: Kaburagi Koji, a man who Ohma felt nothing from. On the day of their fight, Kaburagi used a multitude of underhanded tactics to impede Ohma's fighting ability. Despite initially having a tough time against him, Ohma eventually forced Kaburagi into forfeiting, thus winning him the match. Not long after his match with Kaburagi, Ohma's third Kengan match was against Sekibayashi Jun, a famous Super Japan Pro Wrestler. Unlike his previous two fights, Sekibayashi took the advantage straight away and brutally dominated Ohma with his style of wrestling moves. However, before Ohma could be finished off for good, he unleashed the Possessing Spirit for the first time since that fateful day, allowing him to attain victory. With the fight over, Katahara Metsudo suddenly arrived (with Nogi in tow) and announced the creation of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament. Ohma's excitement grew, knowing that Taira Genzan would not miss the opportunity to fight in such a tournament. After finding out that Nogi wouldn't be using him as their fighter in the tournament, Ohma angrily threatened him until Sen Hatsumi, Nogi Group's appointed fighter, arrived and introduced himself. Despite his injuries, Ohma assumed his "Advance" form and attacked Hatsumi before Nogi ordered them both to stop. With the CEO informing Kazuo that there is another way to get into the tournament, Ohma agrees for him that they will enter as a separate group. Two days later, in an unofficial Kengan match with Kengan Association membership on the line, Ohma fought Masayasu Yokota; almost instantly attained victory. With that, he earns Yamashita Trading Co. Kengan membership and the opportunity to fight in the tournament. A few months later, fully recovered and preparing for the tournament, Ohma re-encounters Setsuna while out training. Shocked by how Kiryu was able to get so close to him, Kiryu introduced himself and revealed that he had already killed Taira Genzan. Ohma devilishly replied that it didn't matter, as all he wanted to do was prove he was the strongest. With Kiryu ecstatic with the response, he promptly left. A day or so later, Ohma, Kazuo, Akiyama, and a new secretary, Kushida Rin, boarded the S.S. Annihilation in preparation to reach the island where the tournament would be held. Being informed that a preliminary round would take place on the S.S. Annihilation and the 123 fighters would have to fight it out until 5 remained, Ohma easily took down multiple opponents (including Jerry Tyson) and earned himself and Yamashita Trading Co. a place in the main tournament. Getting on board the S.S. Kengan, Ohma bore witness to one of Metsudo's Bodyguards effortlessly take care of Hassad. On the S.S. Kengan, after discovering that Himuro Ryo was from The Inside too, Ohma left in a huff. Later, after finding out that assassins might be after them, Ohma and Lihito were suddenly accosted by a hooded figure who preferentially targeted Ohma. After trading a few blows, Ohma realized the assailant was a girl, who introduced herself as Kure Karura. Karura bluntly exclaimed that she wanted to have Ohma's children. Shocked into a stupor by the statement, Ohma jetted off. With Kazuo eventually finding him at the bow of the ship, Ohma confidently assured his readiness for the tournament. Arriving at Ganryu Island, Ohma settled in quickly. On the first day of the tournament, Ohma observed the first two rounds of the tournament, but left on the third, because they weren't serious. With his fight next, Ohma represented Yamashita Trading Co., fighting against Inaba Ryo in the first round. While consistently on top during their battle, Ohma was put in a bind when Inaba used his secret technique. However, Ohma stormed to victory after using his Advance. After the fight, Ohma told Sukizo Urita not to interfere in the fighters' business, adding that Kazuo agreed. Straight afterwards, he was congratulated by an overly keen Karura and then by Suoh Mihono, which he found annoying. Ohma observed Wakatsuki Takeshi's fight against Murobuchi Gozo, as well as the one between Meguro Masaki and Muteba Gizenga. After Muteba killed Masaki, Kazuo said it was unnecessary to kill him, but Ohma disagreed before leaving because he was "tired". Finding somewhere quiet, Ohma went to sleep and began image training within his mind. Defeating Adam Dudley and Gozo Murobuchi, he was shocked when Niko suddenly appeared. Attacking his late master, Ohma was quickly overwhelmed while Niko revealed some home truths as well as the fact that he did not teach Ohma the "Advance". With a sudden memory resurfacing, Ohma woke up with a start, wondering what his dreams meant. With his nose suddenly gushing with blood, Ohma played it down when Akiyama and Kazuo worriedly brought it to attention. Going to the bathroom, Ohma began haemorrhaging and wondered what was going on, before resolving that all he needed to do was kill Kiryu. At the end of the first round, Ohma challenged Kanoh Agito to a fight but was quickly defeated with a single kick. Ohma began to see hallucinations of Niko, enraging him, but he was subdued by Katahara's two strongest Bodyguards, Takayama Minoru and Omori Masamichi. That evening, Ohma did some personal training and regained some more memories after using a Nil Kata technique. The next day, with the help of Yoshioka, one of Katahara's Bodyguard captains, did some more training and realized his execution of Niko Style was getting much better. Later that night, Ohma found Kazuo outside and got ready to go. Just then, Erioh Kure and Raian appeared and threatened Kazuo into a deal with his son, Yamashita Kenzo, as the wager. With Kazuo fretting, Ohma confidently rebuffed them. On the day of the second round, Ohma went out telling Kazuo that he wouldn't lose to Raian. With their fight beginning, Ohma initially seemed to be taking the advantage using the Niko Style. However, Raian's innate resilience let him shrug off the damage and begin to overwhelm Ohma. In a pinch, Ohma resorted to using the "Advance", giving him back the advantage and, in response, Raian used the Removal to even things out. However, the "Advance" ran out, allowing Raian to best him. Though things looked bleak, Kazuo realized Raian's stamina did not carry over after using his Removal and screamed it out for Ohma to hear. Regaining his lost memories, with the hallucination of his master telling him that the Niko Style belonged to him now, Ohma returned to his feet and, using the true strength of the Niko Style, proceeded to defeat Raian. After the battle, Ohma lost consciousness and was hospitalized. When Katsumasa Hayami and the Guardians started their coup, Ohma woke up to defend Yamashita, defeating Ranjo. During a break after stopping Hayami's coup, Ohma went deep into the island's jungle. Realizing that his body had been irreparably damaged by recklessly abusing the Possessing Spirit, Ohma decided that he would fight to the end and win the tournament. Ohma spent time being healed by the Kure Clan with their secret healing technique and went on to fight Imai Cosmo in the third round, despite Kazuo's misgivings. Thanks to his new-found foresight ability, Cosmo initially held the advantage against Ohma. With Ohma continuing to fight past his limits, he eventually put Cosmo a dangerous hold, Water Dragon's Vein. However, despite losing this advantage again after Cosmo broke out of the hold, Ohma soon attained victory after using the Water Kata's ultimate technique, Water Mirror. Ohma rested and recuperated from his match, but no sooner had the quarter-finals finished that Rin came rushing to him, telling him that Kazuo was going to be killed. Ohma followed Kushida to find Kazuo with Setsuna, the latter suddenly about to attack him. Ohma began fighting Kiryu, recalling his first meeting with Kiryu and The Other Niko, and the events leading up to his Niko's death. Kiryu revealed to him that he was the one that orchestrated Niko's death, all so that he could be destroyed by his "god". He demanded that Ohma use the Advance to kill him mercilessly, though Ohma instead defeated him with Demonsbane, and left him alive for the Extermination Force to find. Out of gratitude for helping them locate Kiryu, Katahara Retsudo pulled somes strings to delay the semi-finals by an extra two hours, allowing Ohma more time to rest. In the Kengan Dome, Ohma encountered Takeshi in the corridors, and the two determined that they'd settle who progressed to the finals their own way, regardless of their employers' wishes. When their fight finally began, Takeshi immediately attacked Ohma with a relentless rush, quickly taking the advantage. As Takeshi struck again, Ohma imperfectly countered with Demonsbane, failing to do inflict as much damage as he could have. Takeshi quickly resumed the attack, greatly damaging Ohma. Seeking to end the match, Wakatsuki then struck with a full-powered punch. However, Ohma successfully countered with Demonsbane, sending Takeshi hurtling away. Despite the damage, Takeshi stood up and tried to continue fighting, but Ohma defeated him soon after. Ohma then watched the momentous fight between Kuroki Gensai and Agito, seeing Kuroki take the victory. In the break between the semi-finals and finals, Kuroki found Ohma and told him everything he knew about the history of the Niko Style. Afterwards, Kazuo gave Ohma a shiatsu massage, and they had an emotional farewell as Ohma stepped into the arena for the finals of the Tournament. Fighting against Kuroki, Ohma fought valiantly utilizing his mastery over both the Niko Style and the Advance. However, not even he could overcome The Devil Lance, and was ultimately defeated. Treated for his injuries after the final, Ohma woke up from the hospital room and went out into the forest of Ganryu Island to be by himself. Seeing the hallucination of Niko for the final time, Ohma contently accepted the finality of his situation. With his body succumbing to the vast injuries he had sustained, Ohma died with a smile on his face. Niko Style A style created by Gaoh Mukaku, taught to him by the Niko that raised him. This style is made up of four different katas, or forms, each of which must be fully mastered for the Niko Style to be complete.[30] By the time of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament finals, Ohma had completely mastered "both" Niko Styles to an extreme degree. 2 years after the Kengan Association VS Purgatory Tournament, Ohma appeared to learn how to use his Redirection Kata in a similar fashion to Naidan Mönkhbat's Khüch, a "hard redirection" during his Kengan match against Kiozan Takeru. Shen Wulong noted that was how he was able to stop Kiozan's head-on charge as well as evenly clashing with the Sumo wrestler's powerful palm strikes, despite the overwhelming weight difference: pinning down the "point of force" and dispersing the impact. Advance The Advance is a special technique and the 'other' half of the Niko Style. By overclocking his heart, Ohma's speed, acceleration, torque increase to the point that it also increases his damage output. At its maximum output, his speed and power drastically increases but, because of how it works, also prevents Ohma from using certain techniques of the Niko Style; the Adamantine Kata especially. If he attempted to do so, he could risk rupturing blood vessels at level of output.[31] Before his fight against Kuroki, Ohma gained perfect control over the Advance, allowing him to regulate its output at will. By lowering the output of the Advance down to a certain level, Ohma became able to use it in tandem with the Niko Style with much less strain on his body.[31] Ohma's control over the Advance, by the time he fought Rolón, had become so fine-tuned that he can use it in quick bursts, allowing him to throw off the rhythm of his strikes and land effective blows against Rolón. This method of utilization also keeps Ohma from experiencing the usual strain from the technique. Hanafusa noted that fully unleashing the Advance, while still dangerous for Ohma, can be managed if kept to a maximum of five seconds. About The Niko Style was born from Mukaku rearranging the Gaoh Style with some parts of the Kaiwan Style into something more useful in the modern age.[1] Particularly, it was born during the finally years of Mukaku's attempts of unifying The Inside through martial force.[1] The style is made up of four different katas, or forms, each of which must be fully mastered in order for the Niko Style to be complete.[4] This style places a high focus on adaptability and applicability; many of the techniques are not set patterns, but rather basic principles which can be applied in multiple situations. The Niko Style utilizes unique styles of training to maximize the user's physical conditioning. This includes underwater shadow-boxing (which combines anaerobic exercise with water resistance) to improve muscular and cardiovascular functions.[5] The term, Tiger's Vessel (虎とらの器うつわ, Tora no Utsuwa), refers to the heir of Tokita Niko, or more specifically, one who is a clone of a specific high-ranking member of the Worm, as well as a master of the Niko Style. As Fei Wangfang discovered, the real Tiger's Vessel is Tokita Ohma. There are separate schools of the Style based on the practitioner, due to its inherent adaptability. For example, the Other Niko created techniques such as Dancing Serpent, Ironbreaker: Chain and the Fallen Demon. However, The Other Niko would abandon it in favor of a new style, called Formless. It is also worth noting that the Niko named Four that taught Ohma focused on elevating the Niko Style into a pure barehanded martial art, while Mukaku kept it as a style that can be used with or without weapons interchangeably. Four Katas The Niko Style's Four Katas are Adamantine, Flame, Redirection and Water. Each kata has an 'ultimate technique' which are not necessarily the most powerful techniques but are rather "aces in the hole" that can be used no matter what condition the user is in.[6] Adamantine Kata: The Adamantine Kata (金こん剛ごうの型かた, Kongō no Kata; lit. "Adamant Form")[7] involves the tightening of the muscles (thus hardening one's body) for both defensive and offensive purposes. Flying Axe Kick Flying Axe Kick (飛斧脚, Hibukyaku) is a flying kick enhanced by the Adamantine Kata. The resulting force is able to stagger the likes of Takeshi Wakatsuki. Indestructible Indestructible (不ふ壊え, Fue) allows the user to either defend from powerful blows or attack the opponent with immense power, through instantaneously clenching all of their muscles at the moment of impact; tensing and tightening of the muscles increases the solidity and density of the user's body, thus preventing the impact of outside attacks from inflicting much, if any, damage.[8][9] This gives the technique massive defensive and offensive power. By the user also picturing themselves as if they are rooted to the ground, the technique has the capability to withstand blows from opponents up to a certain weight limit.[8] The sturdy muscles presented by Indestructible are durable enough to mitigate attacks as brutal as Rakshasa's Palm (in this case, because it prevents the permeation of the palm strike's rotational energy).[9] However, Indestructible is not infallible and can be broken through by overwhelmingly powerful blows (such as Takeshi's superhuman strength)[10] or by attacks that can gradually wear Indestructible down (such as Setsuna's Rakshasa's Sole).[9] It also isn't flawless. Ohma pointed out that the more rigid the muscles become, the more maneuverability is sacrificed. This technique also can't strengthen the joints, as noted by Kuroki Gensai. Ironbreaker Ironbreaker (鉄てっ砕くだ, Tessai) is a strike-enhancing technique that is delivered while tensing and tightening the muscles in the user's hands or feet.[11] It produces attacks powerful enough to leave an impression of one's fist in their opponent's body.[12] However, for lesser users. It causes the fist to become stiff to the point of being paralyzed, as demonstrated when Koga uses it. Ironbreaker: Chain An application of Ironbreaker unique to Fei Wangfang's version of the Niko Style, Ironbreaker: Chain (鉄てっ砕くだ・連つらね, Tessai Tsunare), as the name implies, is a continuous barrage of Ironbreaker enhanced strikes. Wangfang demonstrates this as a counter to Takeshi's attempt to throw him out of his hold.[12] Iron Fingers Iron Fingers (鉄てっ指し, Tesshi) is a technique that involves tightening the muscles in the fingers thereby hardening the joints of the fingers.[4] This is an extremely versatile technique and can be used as a jabbing attack against the opponent's vitals, as a pinching hold or even to enable movement of the fingers even if they are broken. It is presumed that this technique is related to the Pierce technique of the Gaoh Style. Bone Binding Bone Binding (抱ほう骨こつ, Hōkotsu) is the ultimate technique of the Adamantine Kata.[13] Using precise and delicate muscle control, the user is able to move body parts where a bone has been broken. This technique appears to be one of the many Kaiwan Style techniques transferred over, as Kuroki Gensai demonstrated the same technique when his entire right fist was broken.[1] Flame Kata: The Flame Kata (火か天てんの型かた, Katen no Kata; lit. "Heavenly Fire Form") is centered around movement and positioning, giving the user incredible speed and agility. Flashfire Flashfire (火ひ走ばしり, Hibashiri) is a style of movement that allows for the user to flicker like a flame. This technique is able to confuse the enemy by creating afterimages.[14] Phantom Pace Phantom Pace (幽ゆう歩ほ, Yūho) is a technique where user quickly sidesteps at the moment right before their opponent's attack, causing the opponent to think that their attack phased right through them.[15] Raging Fire Raging Fire (烈れっ火か, Rekka) is a sprinting technique that is performed after digging their toes into the ground, allowing them to accelerate at unthinkable speeds.[16] Earth-Shrinking The ultimate technique of Flame Kata, Earth-Shriking (縮しうく地ち, Shukuchi) with the essence of the technique laying in "standing on one's bones alone" without the use of the muscles. It relies on shifting one's center of gravity to move, with its "interval" visibly different from regular motions. It yields the illusion that the user is back stepping and the distance between the user and the opponent suddenly shrinks.[17] Redirection kata: The Redirection Kata (操そう流りゅうの型かた, Sōryū no Kata; lit. "Flow Control Form")[18] involves seeing and manipulating the "flow of power", using minimal motions to turn the opponent's attacks against them. As a result, this kata requires incredible kinetic vision and delicate physical control. Weeping Willow The most basic move of the Redirection Kata, Weeping Willow (柳やなぎ, Yanagi) alters the trajectory of their opponent's attack by redirecting their flow of power.[19] In this manner, the user can make their opponent's attacks miss as well as make an opponent lose their balance, allowing an opening for an attack. Change of Scenery Change of Scenery (転てん地ち, Tenchi) is where user hurls their opponent with a twisting throw.[20] Chi Blockage Chi Blockage (絶ぜす氣き, Zetsuki) is a powerful palm strike that was originally created to destroy the nerves. However it can also be used to suppress the autonomic nervous system.[21] Entanglement Entanglement (絡からみ, Karami) is a technique that goes one step beyond the Weeping Willow. By not only altering the trajectory of the opponent's attacks but grabbing onto them while doing so, the user can redirect the power back into their opponent. This can cause dislocation of the joints, as seen when Ohma used it on Komada Shigeru.[22] Flowing Edge Flowing Edge (流りゆう刃じん, Ryūjin) is a defensive technique that deflects an attack's trajectory by applying power to its side.[23] It can even be used to deflect projectiles (such as bullets) by calculating the angle of incidence of the projectile and creating an angle to deflect the projectile off of hard bone in order to change the projectile's trajectory.[20] Marionette The ultimate technique of Redirection Kata, Marionette (傀儡くぐつ, Kugutsu) amplifies the body's internal power and control their body with minimal usage of energy, enabling them to move and fight when their stamina is extremely limited.[24] water kata: The Water Kata (水すい天てんの型かた, Suiten no Kata; lit. "Heavenly Water Form") is a grappling-based kata that places emphasis on flexibility and fluidity of motion. Bind of Pisces Bind of Pisces (双そう魚ぎよ之の縛しばる, Sōgyo no Shibaru) is an armbar that involves immobilizing the opponent's arms by pinning one arm by their head with one's legs and the other arm with one's hands.[4] Dancing Serpent A technique from Wangfang's Niko Style, Dancing Serpent (舞まい蛇へび, Mai Hebi) is where the user bends their entire body backwards to avoid the opponent's attack. Guillotine Guillotine (首しゅ断だん, Shudan) is a technique that is performed while the opponent is off balance, the user then grabs the front of their opponent's neck with both hands (while facing in the opposite direction to them) and then violently pulls and lifts their opponent's body up off the ground using their neck as a lever, heavily damaging the opponent's neck.[25] Jellyfish Clutch Jellyfish Clutch (海月くらげ固がため, Kurage Gatame) is where the user runs at the opponent and catches them in a headlock, leaning down using the momentum of their run. This movement is used to viciously snap the opponent's neck back.[26] Screw Cutter Jizo Screw Cutter Jizo (捻ねじ切きり地じ蔵ぞう, Nejikiri Jizō) is a technique that, while the opponent is off balance in a supine position, the user grabs their opponent's arm with both hands, before flipping them over into a prone position and then tightly holding that arm in a manner similar to an armlock that also involves sitting on the opponent's shoulder.[25] Seagrass Hold Seagrass Hold (水みな草くさ取とり, Minakusa Tori) is a technique used to evade and then lock a thrusting movement; the user quickly dodges a thrusting weapon (such as a spear) or thrusting attack (such as a punch or nukite) and grabs and locks the offending weapon/limb under their armpit in one fluid motion.[27] Water Dragon's Vein A variation of the bow and arrow hold, Water Dragon's Vein (水すい龍りゅう脈みゃく, Suiryūmyaku) is where the user lies on their back with their arms clutching their opponent's neck and knees, and their legs pushing up on their opponent's back.[26] This causes loss of consciousness within seven seconds, due to the carotid sinus reflex, though it has been surmised that the true purpose of this technique is to snap the opponent's spine.[28] Water Mirror The ultimate technique of the Water Kata, Water Mirror (水すい鏡きょう, Suikyō) can be used when the user cannot can't use their normal locks and holds, such as if they had broken their arm. This technique involves using a part of their opponent's body to place their opponent in a lock or a hold. Because there is no specific form for Water Mirror, it allows the user to be flexible and change the way they use it in a fight situation. For instance, in Ohma's battle with Imai Cosmo, Ohma grabbed Cosmo's arm and used it to put him in a choke hold; he also dislocated Cosmo's shoulder and broke his wrist to prevent him from escaping. nil kata: The Nil Kata (無むの型かた, Mu no Kata, lit. "Empty Form") is not one of the four katas of the Niko Style per se, but rather a compilation of breathing exercises.[29] Void Void (空くう, Kū) is a breathing exercise similar to Ibuki breathing and neigong, which involves deep exhalations through increasing the abdominal pressure, focusing awareness towards the body's meridian. This is used as a means of concentration and internal regulation.[29] Combined Katas: Some moves of the Niko Style utilize principles from multiple katas. Absolute Destruction A combination of the Water and Fire Katas, Absolute Destruction (絶壊ぜっかい, Zekkai) is a technique from Wangfang's Niko Style that appears to use the principles of fa jin to deliver a powerful impact. Binding Demon A combination of the Redirection and Water Katas unique to Wangfang's Niko Style, Binding Demon (縛ばく鬼き, Bakuki) consists of utilizing one's arms & legs to restrain the targets arms against their torso from behind, seemingly using their own force to bind them, as even Takeshi Wakatsuki was unable to break free with the strength of his arms.[12] Bone Consumption A combination of the Redirection and Water Katas, Bone Consumption (骨喰, Honeku) involves loosening the joints to increase the range of motion before resetting them back. Demon Wheel A combination technique that is unique to Gaoh Mukaku where the user knocks the target of balance with a palm strike and then immediately follows up with an upward elbow strike in an arc. Tokita Ohma comments that that move would have killed Narushima Koga if he did not pull him back. Fire Water A combination of the Flame and Water Katas, Fire Water (炎えん水すい, Ensui) is a rapid transition from a forward dash to a low tackle, evading any incoming attacks while aiming to tackle the opponent to the ground at the same time.[30] Flashing Steel A combination of Raging Fire and Indestructible, Flashing Steel (瞬しゅん鉄てつ, Shuntetsu) is the fastest attack of the Niko Style. It involves charging the opponent at a high speed and delivering a blow with tightened muscles.[4] The momentum and hardness interact to make for a devastating blow; it's best used as a counter, utilizing both the opponent's and the user's momentum to maximize inflicted damage.[25] However, despite its speed, its linearity makes it predictable.[4] Flashing Steel has at least three forms: Blast (爆ばく, Baku), a blow with the elbow[8], Smash (砕さい, Sai), a punch[31], and Pierce (穿せん, Sen), a finger stab.[32] Flickering Flame Combining the Flame and Redirection Katas, Flickering Flame (畝うねり焔ほむら, Uneri Homura) is a technique that shifts the user's center of gravity when at full sprint, enabling the user to change directions mid-dash immediately and still maintain top speed. The technique puts heavy strain on the legs, however.[33][30] Ironbreaker: Revolution A combination of the Adamantine and Water Katas, Ironbreaker: Revolution (鉄てっ砕くだ廻かい, Tessai-kai) is where the user first throws their opponent to the ground and immediately follows up with a revolved Ironbreaker punch.[25] Leech A combination of the Redirection and Flame Katas unique to The Other Tokita Niko, Leach (original Jap, name needed) is where the user sticks his fingers on his opponents skin, and then uses the physical control of the Redirection Kata and the acceleration of the Flame Kata to seemingly burn of the opponents skin. Setsuna Kiryu described it as a "petty move" and while The Other Niko Tokita didn't deny that, he commented on how a single hit might cause "just a little pain", widespread damage would cause someone to lose their minds. Swimming Swallow A combination of the Redirection and Water Katas, Swimming Swallow (水すい燕えん, Suien) is a rush of blows with unpredictable and quickly-altering trajectories, making them incredibly difficult to guard against.[31] Will-O'-the-Wisp Using the principles of both the Redirection and Flame Katas, Will-O'-the-Wisp (不知火しらぬい, Shiranui) is a turning sidekick and that redirects the flow of the kick into a full-body stomp. The attack is powerful enough to smash a hole into the ground when utilized.[34] Secret Techniques There are three known Secret Techniques (奥おう義ぎ, Ōgi) of the Niko Style. Some of them were created by Gaoh Mukaku. Demonsbane: The Secret Technique: Demonsbane (奥おう義ぎ鬼き鏖おう, Ōgi: Kiō) is the application of all four katas acting as one. As such, can only be performed by someone who has mastered all four.[36] The training for the technique requires the user to have experienced the heightened sense of awareness that comes with a near-death experience.[37] It is a counter that enables the user to completely ward the impact of an opponent's attack. The user utilizes Redirection to change the direction of the attack's power, Water to allow the power to flow throughout the body and Flame to check positioning. Finally, Adamantine is used to deliver the diverted power back to the opponent while also adding their own power to the attack, drastically augmenting the damage inflicted.[15] Demonsbane is also a formless move, making it deceptively deadly because no matter what attack the opponent performs, the user can divert and return it back with more power. However, the move does have a few weakness: besides having to be a master of the Niko Style, the Redirection and Water Katas are key to achieve the move in the first place. If the Redirection Kata is used improperly, the flow of the attack won't change and will instead hit the user. If the Water Kata is used improperly and their body is not completely relaxed, the flow of the attack will move randomly in the user's body, damaging themselves or lowering the damage of the final attack. the Posessing spirit: About The Possessing Spirit was claimed to be a counter For the Kure Clan's "Removal", an aesthetically similar, yet fundamentally different power boosting form.[1] In truth, Gaoh Mukaku had created the technique long before the Niko Style as a part of the plan to kill Shen Wulong, the Connector. Before he regained his memories and the true name of this technique, Ohma merely referred to this technique as him taking out an "Advance" (or "Loan" in the English dub of the ONA) because of the negative side-effects from using the technique. There were initially three who were considered "Tiger's Vessel" candidates: Fei Wangfang, Long Min, and Ranjo. Ohma would later obtain the technique through force by the Other Niko. Eventually, only Wangfang and Ohma remained, though Wangfang would later evolve and refine his Possessing Spirit as Divine Demon. Function The Possessing Spirit involves overclocking the heart's cardiovascular output to rapidly boost their metabolic rate. The result increases their velocity, acceleration, torque and, consequently, their damage output.[2] Because of its effects, it is usually used as a trump card. While using Possessing Spirit, the user's heartbeat grows loud enough to be heard from a distance, their body becomes extremely vascular, with their blood vessels becoming noticeably visible on the surface of their skin and also causing the user's skin to become red, the user's hair begins to float and flare in the air (similar to static hair), the user also maintains a feral smile across their face. The technique also causes a shift in personality to where they can eventually become a mindless berserker. The technique has three "stages" that determine the level of power gained: First Gear: The first stage causes the user's vascularity and speed to increase at a relatively moderate level. There's a noticeable shift in the user's personality, with them wearing a terrifying grin on their face when fighting. By the time Ohma faced Kuroki Gensai, he mastered controlling the output to this stage, allowing him to combine the moderate power output with the rest of the Niko Style at its fullest. Second Gear: This "intermediate" stage was only used by Ohma, at a point in time where the "shackles" Chi Blockage became more and more undone through both time and consistent use. The user's skin becomes even redder, and the power output increases to the point where the user can shatter bones. The behavioral aspects are amplified as well. Full Throttle: The third stage, Full Throttle (全開放, Zenkaihō) refers to using the Possessing Spirit at its full potential. With the heart rate at its fastest, the user's damage output is increased dramatically. In this stage, the user also gains a truly demonic appearance; their skin becomes a very dark red in color, their vascularity is far more pronounced and the scelera of their eyes darken significantly, to the point of resembling the telltale black eyes of the Kure and Wu Clans. The user is also overcome by an illogical bloodlust, demonstrated by Ohma's resultant rampages in both times he had reached this stage. An experienced user of this stage is able to curb and control their bloodlust to an extent, such as Ranjo and Long Min. Drawbacks Because how the Possessing Spirit works, the technique has serious flaws that become more prominent with overuse. As diagnosed by Hanafusa Hajime, its side effects include: blood vessel damage, cerebral hemorrhaging, acute memory loss and confusion, visual and auditory hallucinations, and eventually heart failure and death.[2] Another noted drawback is the increased rate of blood loss due to its inherent function. This means that even a deep yet single wound would be enough to kill its user if it isn't deactivated. As pointed out by both Tokita Niko and Kuroki, the Possessing Spirit's enhancements also robs the user of more delicate, precise motions. For the Niko Style's practicioners, this means that one cannot use the Niko Style to its fullest. The only way to circumvent this weakness is for the heart to be kept at "First Gear", where the more modest power boost can still work in tandem with the Adamantine Kata.
