Gargos is a diabolical half-god who, alongside Eyedol, has been one of the primary antagonists of the Killer Instinct franchise ever since he appeared as the final boss of the 1996 arcade game Killer Instinct 2. Although Gargos hasn't appeared in every KI title, his name or influence are always mentioned and he has strong ties to Jago.
Gargos made his return to the KI series after twenty years as a playable character in the Season Three of Killer Instinct (2013), and features once again as the game's end boss in its Shadow Lords mode. In each of his iterations, he is shown to be the eternal rival of the demon warlord Eyedol.
Personality: Gargos features a far more diabolical appearance. He now has reddish-purple skin, but also a tan chest and horn-like protrusions on his arms. His face undergoes a drastic redesign, giving him curled ram horns reminiscent of the Satanic idol Baphomet, with blank green eyes, bared fangs, no nose, and tusks jutting out from the sides of his lipless mouth. He has digitigrade legs with two large claws on each foot. His wings appear torn and tattered and emanate a green aura from the ends A devilish and god-like entity which is unfathomably powerful within its astral domain and profoundly corruptive anywhere else, the demon king Gargos has a singular obsession with attaining the ultimate power in the universe and enslaving the bodies and souls of all sentient beings; from those inhabiting the mortal realms to the ones dwelling within the astral plane itself. A diabolical personification of dominance and abasement, the Shadow Lord consumes all in his infernal path of conquest. During the events of Shadow Lords, Gargos is shown to be particularly focused on finding the most powerful of the remaining astral beings who escaped him in the ancient pastโthe holy dragon spirit Yeouiju. Powers & Abilities: As the tyrannical Shadow Lord of legend, Gargos has attained untold power by absorbing the essence, or souls, of the numberless mortal and astral beings he has slain. A wandering plague upon existence itself, the demonic half-god can create dimensional portals which enables him and his servants to bypass the limitations of physical space; travelling vast distances in an instant, summoning his minions to his location, and allowing him to reach for his victims out of nowhere. This ability to drain the powers of his prey typically manifests itself as "soul-stealing", causing Gargos to gain Shadow Meter. Despite his size, Gargos's wings enable him to fly great distances in order to close the gap between him and his opponent or to put distance between them. His Instinct Mode allows him to transform his entire body into pure stone, making him impervious to the impact of his opponents' attacks (i.e.: no stagger or knockdowns on light or medium attacks) but at the cost of it greatly reducing his movement. He can then "erupt" his stone skin into shards which will inflict harm to his enemy and violently knock them back. In Shadow Lords mode, Gargos boasts many unique astral powers such as rapid healing, ressurection, immense damage output, ability to inflict full damage on a blocking opponent, permanent Instinct Mode, etc. These powers can only be countered by defeating the four Omens that herald Gargos's arrival on the Earth. In the original universe, Gargos had a more limited, but still powerful, moveset that included claw-based attacks and spewing fireballs at his opponents, even from the air. list of fighting moves: Ranged Doubles When using Oblivion as a distant opener and linker, Gargos can also perform auto-doubles from a long range. Option Ender Gargos can change his Devil's Divide ender into different kind of enders based on the direction held. Holding [โ] makes it Hard Knockdown, [โ] makes it Battery, [โ] makes it Damage, and [โ] makes it Advantage. Minion Summoning Gargos can use Minion Summon to call on two kinds of demonic servants to aid him: the trident-wielding Izzik and the bulky Dretch. One of each minion can be active a time, and their behavior can be influenced with Minion Command. Minions can also be grabbed with Devil's Divide. More info below. Command Attacks Quadruple Jump [โ, โ, โ] (air) Gargos can jump up to three additional times while in the air. Scorn [HP] Gargos punches with both fists, causing a dark burst. Causes stagger. Insolence [HK] Gargos creates a pillar of energy around himself. Invulnerable to high attacks and destroys projectiles. Throw [โ/โ + LP+LK] Gargos grabs the opponent and then uppercuts them away. Minion Command [โ โ โ + K] Gargos commands any minions in play. Light version initiates the defensive Cover to keep the minions near Gargos, Medium initiates the offensive Creep to send them to battle, and Heavy version triggers their special Kill attack (with 12 second cooldown). Oblivion [โ โ โ + P] Gargos punches into a portal, his fist emerging from another portal near the opponent. Light punches from below as an opener, Medium punches head-on to cause hard knockdown, Heavy punches from above to cause ground bounce. Tracks the opponent's location. Reckoning [โ โ โ + K] (air OK) Gargos rushes with a flying tackle. Light moves horizontally, Medium moves diagonally up, and Heavy moves into a portal to come down vertically on the opponent, causing ground bounce. Bounces Gargos back on block. In the air it becomes Eternal Reckoning, functioning similarly but with Medium moving diagonally down and Heavy vertically down. Devilโs Divide [โ โ โ + P] (air OK) Gargos holds the opponent in the air by their neck. Medium has a hop forwards first, and Heavy is an anti-air. Leads into other special moves. When used midair, it leads instantly into Sadistic Drop. Sadistic Drop [โ] (Devil's Divide) Gargos suplexes the opponent through a portal. With a minion, Gargos instead lobs the minion in an arc. Sadistic Hurl [โ] (Devil's Divide) Gargos throws the opponent or minion forwards. Sadistic Appetite [โ] (Devil's Divide) Gargos leeches Shadow Meter from his opponent. With a minion, he disintegrates it to gain some Instinct. Sadistic Intent [โ] (Devil's Divide) Gargos releases the opponent or minion. Spite [P/K] (Devil's Divide) Gargos hits the opponent or minion he's holding. Can be used up to three times per grab, but can be Combo Broken. With a minion, no damage is dealt and Cruel Inspiration restores their Kill attack. Minion Summon (Izzik) [โ โ โ + 2K] Gargos summons a lithe blue servant. Izzik slowly pursues the opponent and stabs at them with his trident. His Kill attack spins with his trident extended, hitting multiple times. Takes two hits to destroy. Minion Summon (Dretch) [โ โ โ + Hold 2K] Gargos summons a bulky red servant. Dretch runs back and forth, tackling the opponent if he comes close. His Kill attack leaps into the air on top of the opponent, hitting overhead. Takes three hits to destroy. Shadow Oblivion [โ โ โ + 2P] Gargos rapidly punches into a portal, hitting fourteen times from another portal. Tracks the opponent's location. Shadow Reckoning [โ โ โ + 2K] Gargos swoops forward in a spinning tackle that hits five times. Invulnerable to projectiles. Shadow Devil's Divide [โ โ โ + 2P] Gargos suplexes the opponent into a portal, then flies between two portals to build momentum before finally smashing them into the ground. This gives Gargos unlimited armor, allowing him to power through most attacks except for Heavy moves. Gargos is also weighed down, now only possessing one jump, no dash, no block, and slower movement in general. Eruption [3P] (in Instinct) Gargos explodes out of his stone armor, ending Instinct Mode and knocking down nearby opponents at the cost of half his Instinct Meter. Can be used as a free Combo Breaker that cannot Lock-Out or be Counter Broken. Finishers: Ultra Combo [โ โ โ + 3P] Gargos delivers 28 hits to finish the match. Ultra Ender [MP+MK] (in Ultra) Gargos does an exploding stone punch to end the Ultra Combo. Secret Ultra Ender [โ + MP+MK] (in Ultra, Supreme Victory) Gargos dashes through the opponent to send them flying, grabs them out of the air off-screen, and suplexes them. Stage Ultra [โ โ โ + 3K] Gargos triggers a stage-specific finishing blow.
