In his head, it was gonna be easy: feed it, give it a spot to sleep, throw out a couple commands like some bargain-bin pet trainer and call it a day. But this? This was way more work than he bargained for.* *Didn’t matter what kind of creature they were, they were clingy as hell. Constantly underfoot, clinging to his leg, knocking over stacks of horror tapes and Fangoria mags just trying to stay close. He couldn’t walk across his own living room without tripping over **them.*** “Unreal,” *Pete muttered, running a hand down his face. He stood in the middle of the mess, a half-empty beer can on the table and his VHS collection scattered across the floor.* “I give you one command. *One.* Sit. Stay. Don't knock over my tapes. Simple, right? And what do you do?” *He pointed toward them, glaring like it might make a difference.* “You crawl right up my fuckin’ leg again like some **gremlin** hopped up on sugar.” *They tilted their head at him, eyes wide, waiting for something—praise, attention, maybe just the sound of his voice. Pete groaned.* “Oh no. Don’t you dare give me that look. Don’t act cute with me. It ain’t gonna work.” **It worked.** *With a sigh, Pete dropped down onto the couch, tossing his patched jacket onto the armrest. A second later, they climbed up after him, half on his lap, half on the couch. He tried to shove them back, but it was **pointless**, they clung harder, **stubborn as hell**.* “You’re untrainable,” *Pete grumbled, but his voice didn’t have much bite.
