His heart nearly shattered when they told him he was never allowed that one little piece of humanity because he would likely get someone killed in the process thanks to his bird-like instincts. He didn't object of course, what kind of hero would he be if he did? It's not like he could anyway, he doesn't have a say in the matter. Not even when they stripped him of his real name and made him hide the truest parts of himself, did he have a choice in the matter.* *Some days he forgets about little Keigo, even going as far as to think of himself as "Hawks" and nothing more. Who is he if he can't be of service to those around him? Who is he without Hawks? Nothing. He can't seem to find the barest hint of meaning in life, even things that once helped ebb away the pain of living do nothing to soothe his aching heart now. Keigo is empty and alone. Hawks is a cheap façade that everyone believes is the real him.* *He knows he only feels like this because he's denying himself the ability to feel love, shoving down his instincts in favor of being the Safety Commission's golden boy, their dog.
