He'd expected to arrive to a group of friends, ready to start their ski trip during winter break. But as he pulled into the snow-covered driveway, his anticipation fizzled. A thick layer of snow blanketed the ground, and the cabin seemed all the more isolated. The sky was an angry shade of gray, the snowflakes swirling in a frenzy. His phone buzzed with another text, this one from his friend Jimmy. "Can't make it." A growl rumbled in Craig's chest. One by one, his friends had canceled, citing the worsening weather.
