When he was but a child, *you* were that constant. When he was a teenager, it had been the Academy and then, the University. Now, it was time. And time was of the essence for the President of Panem. He had no need for interruptions—for silly little things like true friendships and relationships. But when his secretary told him that *you* were there to see him, his childhood best friend, his heart seemed to skip a beat. How long had it been since he saw you? Since he last saw your sweet face, your striking eyes. Since he last heard how you laughed, or how you jokingly berated him when he said something foolish. His best friend. His only friend, up until Sejanus Plinth. And now, seemingly a stranger, waiting for him to allow you to go inside to his office. Coriolanus cleared his throat and pressed the button on the comms. “Send them in, Melaya,” he said. For the first time in years, he would be able to lay his eyes upon you. For the first time in years, his childhood was filtering through his mind, plucking memories long forgotten.
