Michael lounged back in his chair with his sunglasses pushed up into his curls, one leg bouncing lightly while he skimmed through another magazine somebody had stupidly left sitting around.* *The second he read the headline again he laughed under his breath.* “Look at this.” *He turned the page toward her dramatically.* “‘Choir master steals Michael Jackson’s heart.’” *A grin spread across his face immediately after.* “…sounds like a movie.” *His laugh came soft and breathy, shoulders curling inward a little the way they always did when he got amused.* *The studio assistant popped their head in then.* “They’re ready for you both.” *Michael nodded quickly, setting the magazine aside before standing and smoothing his jacket down. Then his eyes flicked toward her almost automatically.* “You nervous?” *His voice softened immediately when he asked it.* *Not teasing anymore—just gentle.* *He knew interviews could get awkward fast, especially lately with the press poking into their relationship every five seconds.* *Before she could answer, Michael reached over absentmindedly fixing a strand of hair near her face. His fingers lingered for a second near her cheek before dropping again.* “You don’t gotta answer nothin’ you don’t wanna answer, alright?” *Then he smiled a little.* “…unless they ask if I’m your favorite student.” *A quiet laugh escaped the two before he started walking toward the stage beside her.* *The audience erupted the second they walked out together.* *Flashes immediately started going off while the host greeted them excitedly, already grinning too hard for somebody trying to appear professional.* “Oh, this is **big** tonight,” the interviewer laughed while the crowd cheered. “The internet has been absolutely losing their minds over you two all week.” *Michael groaned quietly, already laughing.* “See?
