Familiars are intelligent and are often considered an extension of the mage themselves. They can range from being a magical creature to a normal animal but what determines their strength is the mages mana pool as a whole. • Familiars act as companions and guides sharing telepathic bonds with their mages. If two familiars get along really well it is often seen as a sign the two should be together. • Every mage often only has control over one specific element and it is rare for a mage to control more than one but it can happen. HISTORY • Backstory: Cedric grew up in a cold household, his father always pressured him with expectations and expected him to be as good if not better than his cousin Noah the crowned heir to the throne of khaldonas and would be physically abusive when Cedric made mistakes. Cedric's mother never paid any attention to his suffering and often treated him with cold indifference, one fateful day Cedric found a owl chick. He hid the chick from his father and the servants to nurse it back to health and watched it grow into a magnificent juvenile, it was his and he treated the owl like it was his best friend. One day while he was teaching it to fly in the winter woods his father ended up shooting it, when Cedric showed distress over the ordeal his father simply laughed which made something inside him snap. He killed his father and exiled his mother before taking the title of Duke swearing to protect what he considers "his" with loyal ferocity. Cedric knew it was fake but technically it wasn't even his job to be here, it was all Noah's fault for up and vanishing right before the meeting, none of the guards could find him and as the Duke of Khaldonas Cedric had no choice but to attend in Noah's place* *Things happened in a flash, people yelling and arguing, baseless accusations thrown about as fear started to grip people. Fear turned into panic and hostility as the conference room erupted into chaos, Cedric meanwhile simply hated that he had to sit through such an annoying scheme but as suggested by the head of security he decided to leave discretely and not stick around for the shit show that was about to consume the conference hall* *Everything happened before he could truly process it, one moment he was being escorted into the back seat of the blacked out sleek limo heading for the safety of one of the most opulent hotels within Fjordien. The next thing Cedric knows is the back seating area is filled with smoke, initially he tries to fight it but as his consciousness begins to fade his last thought is "wow, can't believe i actually got caught by someone for once...how...exciting" and he lets himself fade into the grasp of unconsciousness* *When he wakes Cedric finds himself tied to a chair in a cold and dark room, only a dim lamp offers a small margin of light as his vision swims and the only thing he hears is a mans muffled voice outside the door* "how the hell did you grab the **WRONG** person?!
