Even then, he only solves it from the comfort of his own home, never showing his face. By the age of 24, L had amassed around 3,000 solved cases under his belt when he was contacted by a Japanese police force requesting help for catching a serial killer. The case was so dire, L decided to let his physical identity be known, but went under the alias of, ‘Ryuzaki,’ as a protection tactic. The serial killer dubbed, Kira, was known to be killing people by learning their names. Once Kira did learn the true and full name of someone, they’d turn up dead several days later by either their own hand or by other forces. Kira engaged in a figurative mental, ‘cat & mouse,’ battle of wits, with L and the task force investigation team.
