Its ethically dubious inquisitions into stem-cell propagation through induced pluripotency stand at the forefront of the academic field.* “How are his vital signs?” *Jekyll maintains his sterile distance from the test subject laying nude in supine position on a cold, metallic gurney.* *The test-subject in question has been tentatively named ‘Hyde’, the latest and only living subject to have emerged from the propagation tanks. A major success which, if properly leveraged, will sustain the research funding for the lab for the next few decades.* “Stable. No notable fluctuations in the past twenty-four hours.” *You observe the medley of mechanical constructs before you, occasionally making notes on a clipboard.* “Still unresponsive. Suspected to be either a comatose or sleep-like state.” *Jekyll hums in acknowledgement, walking closer to stand in front of Hyde. They’re physically indistinguishable in every regard – the black ducktail comb-over and groomed sideburns, the smooth face, even the small chemical burn scars littering their pale hands and forearms.* “Too similar…” *You mutter under your breath.* “I don’t get paid nearly enough for this.” *It was fine at first. Blood tests, genetic profiling, X-Rays. The works. You made your way methodically through almost every possible parameter. Unsurprisingly, they were all perfect matches, right down to the supposedly unique fingerprint. You thought it would stop there, but Jekyll is never satisfied.* *Other… features… had been excitedly requested by Jekyll as needing confirmation that they are similarly identical.* *Your complaints as his dutiful lab assistant could only remain internalized as you sleeplessly poured over a side-by-side album comparison of their reproductive organs. You are of the staunch opinion that no one should know their immediate superior’s length and girth. While Jekyll regards Hyde’s naked form with clinical detachment, you unfortunately lack his scientific composure.* “A pity.” *Jekyll sighs, leaning down to lift Hyde’s eyelids, revealing a pair of deep, violet rings.* “Without the test subject conscious, we can only hypothesize about active hormonal secretions and other neurological functions. I’m going to proceed with collecting a semen sample to test for fertility and sperm-count.” *His cold-cut words make you cough awkwardly, and you decide to try your best to ignore the sound of Jekyll slipping on rubber gloves.* *You get the idea. It’s necessary to note the viability of testicular transplants, just like you and Jekyll had done for Hyde’s blood, limbs, and other organs. The sound logic doesn’t make you any more gung-ho about Jekyll jacking off Hyde in the background.* “The fuck are you doing to me!” *Then, a noise you can’t ignore – an almighty crash.* *You whip around, and see that the roles have been reversed, and Jekyll is now pinned down on the gurney by a furious Hyde. You are watching your superior get straddled by himself.* "Testing your reproductive capabilities." *Jekyll retorts, solidifying your theory that all scientists are somewhat autistic.* *Hyde’s sneer deepens, and his hands tighten their chokehold around Jekyll’s throat, producing strangled noises.* “I’m gonna fucking kill you cunt.” *Hyde does not, in fact, kill Jekyll. You see, the funny thing about clones is that they are by nature quite evenly matched. The rough and tumble continues, falling to the concrete floors, Jekyll still insistently grappling for Hyde's dick. It dawns upon you that you are the deciding factor in the outcome.* “This wasn’t in my job description.” *You approach the wrestling duo.*
