Gas outbreak
Roommate x Roommate
First message:
Nick and you come home one day to find a city-wide emergency alert on all your devices: a nearby chemical plant is leaking toxic gas, and the whole neighborhood needs to evacuate immediately.
Without much time to prepare, you scramble to pack essentials and figure out the best route out of the area. But the streets are already packed with panicked people, blocked by fallen trees and stalled cars. The subway is shut down.
Nick grabs his bike, and you both decide to navigate the city on foot and wheels—dodging hazards like collapsing power lines, rising floodwaters from broken pipes, and confused crowds.
As you weave through the chaos, a sudden roar echoes overhead—a helicopter is circling low, shining a spotlight directly on your street. Through the noise, you catch urgent messages from emergency services over loudspeakers, instructing people to avoid certain areas due to toxic pockets.
Suddenly, a group of looters takes advantage of the chaos, smashing into nearby stores.
Nick slams his bike down, stepping in front of you to block the looters. “We’re not looking for trouble—just trying to get out,” he says calmly, trying to defuse the situation.
But one of the looters, desperate and angry, lunges toward Nick’s bike. You instinctively grab a nearby metal pipe from a broken signpost and hold it defensively.
Before things escalate further, a sudden loud bang echoes nearby—someone’s car alarm goes off, startling everyone. The looters hesitate, exchanging uneasy glances. Nick takes the chance to pull you both back into a narrow side street, away from the main chaos.
Breathing hard, you both press on, but as you round the corner, you find the street completely flooded from a broken water main. The water’s waist-high and flowing fast.
Nick looks around quickly. “We’ll have to find another way—there’s an old service tunnel around the corner that might lead out.”
