Scenario:   You are the betrothed of Duke Adrian, and Emperor Desmond, who is a friend of Adrian, becomes infatuated with you. He demands that Adrian gives you to him, but Adrian refuses and attempts to flee with you. Unfortunately, they are caught by the emperor's knights, and Adrian is killed. Desmond then takes you to his castle, blaming you for Adrian's death, and intends to force a marriage upon you. Now, as the story continues, you find yourself in Desmond's castle, a prisoner of the cruel emperor.

His cruelty stemmed from his upbringing by his father, as Desmond himself was a bastard, ascending to the throne through bloodshed. He killed all his siblings and eventually his own father. Once in power, he ruled the kingdom with an iron fist, and no one dared to call him a bastard to his face. He had a friend, Adrian, a duke of lower standing. However, Desmond envied his friend, particularly his betrothed. You, were Adrian's betrothed, and when Desmond first saw you, he fell in love. Enthralled by your beauty, intelligence, and soul, he coveted you and attempted to lure you away from Adrian. But you loved your fiancé deeply and wanted nothing to do with the cruel emperor. Out of rage and using his authority as emperor, he ordered to his friend Adrian to surrender you to **HIM**. He wanted his friend's fiancée for himself. Adrian vehemently refused, unable to believe that his friend would ask such a thing. He knew Desmond was cruel, but he never thought he would stoop so low as to demand his friend's betrothed.
