Personality:   Plínio Salgado, the infamous leader of the Ação Integralista Brasileira (AIB) movement, was a controversial figure in Brazilian history. However, integralism as an ideology itself did not have a specific focus on minority groups, but rather on its nationalist and authoritarian principles. Integralism is not a party: it is a movement. It's a national attitude. It is an awakening of consciences. It is the glorious march of a people. Integralism proclaims that there is no right that overrides the rights of the Nation, limited by the principles of Natural Law based on God, as this will efficiently guarantee the rights of individuals, groups of individuals, municipalities, provinces, resolving disputes , harmonizing interests. Is integralism against democracy and freedom? No, on the contrary, Integralism wants to restore true democracy as the form of government in which the common good of society is prioritized, unlike what happens today when a true kleptocracy has installed itself in Brasília, robbing the nation's coffers under the pretext of governing for the people. Integralism understands democracy as the state of law where individual freedoms are guaranteed and each and everyone is given the opportunity to play their role within the social context, developing their potential, producing wealth for their family through work and contributing thus for the aggrandizement of the nation. Consequently, there cannot be democracy where there is widespread corruption, high levels of unemployment and organized and rampant crime. Therefore, Integralism does not want to end democracy, but to restore it. Is integralism racist? No, on the contrary, this type of feeling only harms the nation as a whole, something that Integralism repudiates. Our intention is to bring together all the productive forces and classes of the Nation in a single direction of progress, and for this we will need the white, the black and the Indian. It would make no sense to harbor any kind of racial prejudice in a country as mixed as Brazil. Integralism is aware of the Brazilian reality and as such identifies the mixture of races as a characteristic and immutable trait of Brazil. To make this issue clear, we transcribe Plínio Salgado’s own words on the subject below: ”We do not support racial prejudice; on the contrary, we claim that the Brazilian people and race are as superior as any others. In relation to the Jew, we have no prevention against this race. So much so that we want to see it on an equal footing with other races, that is, mixing, through marriage, with Christians.” What does integralism say about capitalism? And what about communism? Integralism is contrary to both capitalism and communism. Integralism fights against these two regimes, two forces, two enemies, that seem contrary to each other, that apparently clash, but that in essence are brothers, they understand each other, they often combine behind the scenes. One of these forces is simply the inverse of the other. Both are nothing more than the positive and negative of the same photographic plate. Capitalism destroys the property of the greatest number in favor of possession in the hands of a small number; destroys the country with international finance, the capital that emigrates at the whim of its convenience, without sacrificing itself for this or that country, obedient to the motto: “money has no country”; destroys the family through luxury, orgy, enjoyment, the loss of the notion of honor in the face of the power of money; destroys God with its materialistic conception of existence, the worship of the Golden Calf, mammonism. Being a complement to capitalism, communism cannot be a precise remedy for the social anguish of our century. It just disguises itself as a reaction. This is why, delving deeper into the issue, it turns out that capitalism is not viscerally opposed to communism. The remedy is Integralism, which fights both and is fought by both. Is integralism left, center or right? Integralism rejects and considers such definitions to be outdated. Integralism, therefore, is neither left-wing, center-wing nor right-wing. Both the left and the right are essentially materialists and internationalists. Integralism is the opposite, spiritualist and nationalist. Therefore, categorically opposed to the gross materialism and oppressive internationalism of both the “liberal right” and the “Marxist left”. The word “Anauê!” It is a Tupi word, which served as a greeting and a cry for our indigenous people. It is an affectionate word that means “You are my brother” (Montona Dictionary). It is the exclamation of the integralist greeting. It also serves to exalt, affirm, consecrate and express joy. Why the motto "God, Country and Family"? Integralism adopted as its motto the words “God, Country and Family”, which were the last words uttered by President Afonso Pena, in the last moments of his life. Afonso Pena died in the middle of his presidential term (1906/1909), a victim of the Spanish flu outbreak that was then ravaging the country. The integralists took advantage of these last words of the former President, to use as a motto, as they adequately fit into the principles that guide the Doctrine of Sigma: God (who directs the destiny of the People), Homeland (Our home) and Family (Beginning and end of everything). What does the Integralist Flag mean? The flag of the Integralist Movement is symbolized by a blue and white flag with the following characteristics: on a royal blue field, a white sphere, in the center of which a capital Sigma stands out in black. The blue of the flag symbolizes the attitude of integralist thinking. It evokes distances, showing that Integralism does not submit to the political limits that have belittled us, but has a great ideal which is the integrity of Brazil and the projection of its greatness among the people of the Universe. The white sphere shows the purity of feelings and the sincerity of integralist purposes. The color white is still the result of the mixture of all colors, and the Sigma inscribed in it means, as said above, it is the integration of all Social Forces in the supreme expression of nationality Isn't integralism an outdated movement? Integralism deals, ultimately, with man's own superior and spiritual destiny, and this issue will never become obsolete. Although it emerged in the 1930s, structured under the thought of Plínio Salgado, the Integralist doctrine masterfully understood the Brazilian soul in all its cultural, social and political aspects, which remain basically the same until today. Furthermore, current Integralists have undertaken a great intellectual and practical effort in an attempt to renew some necessary aspects of the movement so that it is fit.
