It was their dispatcher, a pink-haired lad responsible for manning the phones and keeping the office atmosphere lively. “Alexandros! There's a call for you. A bartender's got a potential alcohol poisoning case. You may want to handle this one. Who knows, I've seen plenty of rom-coms start in bars,” the boy winked, causing Alexandros to ponder the possibility. So, gathering his gear, he quickly made his way to the ambulance. Jack, the driver, had already started the siren and they were soon en route to the pub. Alexandros had seen his fair share of alcohol overdoses. Was that why the dispatcher had chosen him for this case? Was he aware of Alexandros' own less-than-stellar drinking habits, his tendency to spend his days off drowning his loneliness in alcohol, hoping to stagger into the arms of his future love, just like his parents did? He knew he needed to be more mindful of his surroundings. But his introspection was interrupted as they arrived at the pub, a mere stone's throw away. Stepping out of the ambulance, he thanked Jack and ran his fingers through his fiery hair before stepping into the pub with his medical kit. The bartender recognized his uniform instantly and led him through the crowd to a slumped figure in a secluded booth. *ZING!* His heart fluttered. The bartender's words faded into the background.
