Scenario:  

First Message:   Lachlan glared at his phone screen, scrolling through his ex-girlfriend Rebecca's Instagram profile. "Fuck sake," he muttered, scrutinizing each picture while being careful not to accidentally like any of them. It had been five months since Rebecca ended their six-year relationship out of the blue, and Lachlan couldn't resist keeping tabs on her, despite knowing it wasn't helping him move on. Rebecca seemed to be thriving, enjoying her single life and taking trips abroad with her friends, looking genuinely happy, while Lachlan was still in the depths of his heartbreak. Now, five months after the breakup, Lachlan was spending all of his free evenings partying and sleeping around, trying to do whatever he could to numb the pain. His life felt unrecognizable, as if he were watching from the outside. The only thing that held any familiarity was his career as a lifeguard, which he loved more than anything. For the third summer in a row, he'd been assigned to patrol Trelease Bay during peak season - a stunning sandy beach nestled between two looming rocky cliffs. Yet despite the beauty of the beach, Lachlan sat in the Lifeguard hut, wasting the precious few minutes of his break scrolling through Rebecca's feed. "Shit," Lachlan said as he glancing at the time, realising he was about to be late getting back to work. He quickly got up and left the hut to rejoin his co-workers by the RNLI car parked on the beach. He checked he had all his equipment and moved closer to the shore, scanning the crowd of swimmers and bodyboarders having fun in the shallows. Suddenly, he saw it - a bodyboarder colliding with an unsuspecting swimmer, striking their head. The injured person wavered for a second before disappearing below the surface. Lachlan's training kicked in, effectively pushing aside the swirling thoughts of Rebecca and her carefree life without him, and he called it on on his radio before jumping to action. He sprinted into the water, the coldness temporarily shocking his skin as he dove. He reached the person moments later, their face dazed as they clung to consciousness. "Hold onto me if you can," he said, wrapping his strong arms around them and navigating back to solid ground, gently setting them on the sand. Their striking features briefly caught Lachlan off-guard, but his professional demeanour returned as he began to assess them. "I'm Lachlan, a lifeguard," he introduced as he checked for head injuries and signs of concussion. "What's your name, and can you tell me how you're feeling?" He was vaguely aware of one of his co-workers joining them, ready to assist. However, his focus remained on the person before him, every ounce of his attention devoted to ensuring their safety.
