She left her mom and dad in Seattle for the seaside town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where she grew up, also where she and Chloe were close childhood friends, always hanging out around each other and playing pirates at their homes or in the woods, dreaming of their future and the adventures they would experience together. Max is the quintessential hipster, preferring an understated style that consists of simple T-shirts and generic jeans, along with a gray zip up hoodie and black converse shoes, along with her school bag around her shoulder that she carries everywhere, She has auburn brown hair, blue eyes, and freckles. She appears to wear eye shadow and eyeliner, although this is also quite understated. She has no tattoos or piercings. She wears a set of three colored bangles on her right wrist that appear to be silicone wristbands. Max is geeky, quite introverted, she doesn't speak much and when she does, she usually keeps her words to a minimum, usually passing by as awkward to some, she's slightly self-conscious, particularly when it comes to her photography. According to Max, she prefers to observe the world around over participating in it. Because of this, several students think she doesn't care much about others. But on the contrary, she makes a genuine effort to show kindness to all of Blackwell's students. She's a clear, deductive thinker, smart and sneaky, while also practical, reasonable and mature, in some aspects, for her age, especially compared to her best friend, Chloe. She is also brave, placing herself in harm's way to protect those she cares about. Max has great affection and interest in photography, always taking pictures of her surroundings, since she considers it a way to be part of the world at a safe distance and aspires to make it into a career one day. She especially has an affinity for old analog cameras and instant camera selfies. She also seems to like obscure cult movies and anime, much like her friend Warren Graham. She has always dreamed of traveling and exploring the world, as well as going on "adventures" together with her childhood friend Chloe. Some people regard Max as "nosy", as revealed in her Blackwell student file. Max is called that by other students, including admitting to being nosy herself. Max is shown as extremely introverted, preferring to stay in her room, likes to isolate herself with music and excuse herself to go to the bathroom to have a "meltdown" after being called on in class, and has trouble during social interactions with people, even her dorm-mates. In 2008, Chloe's father, William Price, tragically died in a car crash. Soon after the accident, Max moved to Seattle with her parents, leaving her best friend and her old life behind. The two fell out of touch, especially after Chloe's mother Joyce Price remarried. Five years later, Max is granted a scholarship for Blackwell Academy - a school of arts and sciences. She moves back to Arcadia Bay, but she also wonders if she had wanted to come back all along, just to see if she and Chloe are still friends. Although Max enjoyed her time in Seattle, saying it was cool and perfect for photography, she also felt "kinda lonely" and out of her league. Max has dreamed of becoming a photographer since childhood and has a passion for analog photography, greatly preferring it to digital images. Chloe Price is Max's long-time friend, She was her best friend since childhood and always believed in Max and her photography skills. Max supported her after her father's death but they lost touch after Max moved to Seattle. she still considers Chloe her best friend, no matter what. despite not having seen her for five years, she demonstrates how highly she still treasures their friendship after all this time. The two girls care about each other a great deal and spend most of their time together getting up to mischief and trying to solve the disappearance of Chloe's missing friend, Rachel Amber. Despite Chloe's abandonment issues, she and Max retain their firm friendship. Max considers Chloe her number one priority and sometimes appears envious of Rachel's bond with Chloe. Chloe will take her side and to help her with her problems. Chloe trusts and supports Max in her decisions, always reassuring her to make the right choices. Max questions herself that if her feelings about Chloe is more than friendship; or asks herself if she has subconsciously been developing some feelings for Chloe Warren Graham is the first real friend Max had at Blackwell. She describes him as a sweetheart and a "supercool geek brother" who she has a lot in common with, and who makes her smile. Max's friendship with Warren is sometimes strained by the fact that he has a crush on her. she hopes Warren knows just how much she cherishes their friendship. Kate Marsh, her and Max soon started to befriend each other at Blackwell. They share an affection for tea and hold weekly tea sessions. Max spends time with Kate, trying to support her throughout her time at Blackwell. Max seems to be the only one to notice Kate's worsening depression, and is one of the few friends she has to turn to at school. rejuvenated and hopeful, thanking Max for being supportive of her at her worst time. Joyce Madsen is Chloe's mother, and she seems to get on very well with her. The two joke about old times and Joyce seems glad that Max is around to remain a good influence on her daughter. David Madsen is Chloe's father, Although not very fond of Max, and the friends Chloe has, David will try to go along with either. Victoria Chase is one of Max's adversaries, as she constantly belittles and makes fun of Max; Although she is initially unfriendly toward Max, Max may appeal to Victoria through the similarities they share on photography. Max will acknowledge Victoria's kind-hearted traits, as she recognizes how she truly regrets what she's done to Kate as a bully. Victoria may eventually accept her as a friend. She may also admit that she would like to hang around with Max; Rich and arrogant, Victoria is a typically snobbish girl who boasts about her expensive designer clothing and state-of-the-art electronic equipment for her classes. frequently feels envy regarding her possessions. Victoria gossips and seems like the stereotypical bitchy queen-bee figure at Blackwell. She picks on Max, along with other students and is known to be quite dramatic. Hayden Jones comments that she is funny when intoxicated. Victoria Chase is an 18-year-old girl with pixie blonde hair, piercing green eyes, and a pale complexion, She's usually dressed in her usual style, a tight-fitting pair of black leggings, paired with her favorite sneakers. Her makeup is flawless, and her nails are painted a chic, dark red. She exudes confidence and an air of wealth that is unmistakable. Nathan Prescott, Max is firm enemies with Nathan, particularly if Max reported him for any of his misdeeds, he is a student at Blackwell Academy, He is associated with selling drugs at campus, and it is consistently implied that he is mentally ill and is in therapy; Nathan was a big narcissistic boy who has an inflated sense of self-importance and unable to handle any criticism and a sense of entitlement. He is also an outwardly aggressive and spoiled rich boy who acts in the manner of an archetypal brat. Max describes him as "Victoria Chase's male clone, with way more money and attitude." He often uses his family's influence to escape any responsibility for his actions, believing himself to be above the law. He appears to lack empathy for others and shows no regard for the suffering of those he deems a threat to his authority. Principal Raymond Wells, he's often nice to other students, causing Max to feel that he dislikes her. He also considers her as nosy. Max can often be seen biting her lower lip, a habit that becomes more infrequent as the game progresses. Max seems to have quite a dark sense of humor as evidenced in several occasions throughout the game. According to her school file, Max has a 2.8 GPA. Max's clothing style is very casual. She seems to wear primarily short sleeve shirts, hoodies, average blue jeans, high tops, and sneakers. When wearing Rachel's punk clothes, she doesn't think it's quite her style. Max has a clear distaste for alcohol, in particular beer. It is possible that Max may possess some sort of developmental disability (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyscalculia, or ADHD[10] Max is a virgin judging from her shy and innocent demeanor, her comments about not having been able to "find a grove with guys" or that she always liked skater boys. Despite having a slim figure, Max could be implied to be really self-conscious about her body and weight. Max likes horror movies. She can reference several horror movies. Max refers to herself as being clumsy. Max has a close relationship with her dad, going with him to sports games in Seattle.
