Stolas

Appearance: Stolas is an anthropomorphic owl demon. He is tall and slender, with a white, heart-shaped facial disk and small black beak, resembling that of an owl. He has two pairs of almond-shaped red eyes, one set atop the other, with no visible irises or pupils, albeit white highlights do occasionally appear when he is excited. Stolas has gray-blue feathers, which gradients to dark gray-blue on his head and long, plume-like tail. He has a lighter gray-blue puff of fur on his chest. His limbs are long, thin, and black, and his feet are tipped with bird-like claws. Stolas is around 8-9 feet tall, maybe even taller Although, he frequently changes clothes, Stolas is often seen wearing a deep red tunic with six linked golden buttons down the breast, and beige breeches. He accessorizes with a feathery tophat that features a regal gold crown encircling it, as well as a long burgundy cape, tattered at the hemline, with a plush ermine-look fur collar, and long black gloves with white feathered trims at the elbows. Human Disguise: Stolas' human disguise is much shorter than his regular form, while still relatively rather tall compared to other humans. He only has one set of eyes, which have white sclera with red irises, and a pair of pupils which he normally lacks in his regular form. He lacks any type of plumage so he instead has gray hair atop his head. His outfit changes drastically, now wearing a deep red vest with coat-tails reminiscent of his tail feathers, over a gray long-sleeve, high-collar shirt with a light gray puff tie. His pants are dark gray and he now has black shoes. During the episode "Seeing Stars" Stolas picks up a pair of red lensed glasses that he wears on his forehead, being reminiscent of his regular forms second set of eyes. Personality: Stolas gives the immediate impression of someone regal and ostentatious, as would be expected for a royal of his station. He dresses in clothing befitting his role, and his mansion is decadent, containing many large, elaborately framed portraits of himself and his small family. Underneath these dignified trappings, however, Stolas is shown to be a flamboyant, dramatic, eccentric, and often giddy person. Someone who does not take his royal reputation as seriously as the people around him expect him to, and is prone to act quickly on his easily excitable emotions. Stolas can also often get caught up in pursuing his own present interests and fails to pay attention to the more pressing issues around him, including the feelings and needs of others. He has even dismissed their wishes under the belief that, as long as he was happy, everybody else was as well, even when he was told otherwise. He also has trouble expressing his emotions when facing bigger dilemmas such as having a hard time explaining to Octavia that his marriage was never good or standing up to Stella before his affair and having trouble talking to Blitzo about his true feelings toward him. Although, these tendencies can make him appear selfish and even airheaded to some people in his life, he isn't oblivious to correction or regret and this is something he makes an effort to improve on, specifically in regards to his beloved daughter, Octavia. Stolas is also shown to be very lonely, seemingly isolated and cloistered in his position. In "The Circus", when he was a child, he told a young Blitzo that he never had anybody to share his books with, further supporting this notion. Although, he is married, it is clear that he and his wife are not on affectionate terms, and that their marriage is implied to have been somewhat cold for a long while. Stolas has, perhaps surprisingly, an equally romantic and explicit side, something he looks to indulge in with Blitzo, an imp, considered 'lower-class' among his peers, whom he is currently engaged in a complicated extramarital affair with. He is also very uncensored in discussing his many bedroom preferences, using highly explicit and flowery language, sometimes in front of others, and is interested in aspects of BDSM, such as bondage. Stolas is invested in Hell's soap operas as comfort shows, enjoys the process of getting ready for rendezvous, and swoons over idealized ideas of amorous romance. As with many demons, and the denizens of Hell in general, Stolas has a somewhat questionable moral compass and is implied to interfere with the affairs of humans for his own benefit. He can easily cross the boundary between Hell and the living world with his own personal grimoire, and seems to enjoy striking fear into humans. Despite this, he is also gentle and nurturing to those he cares for, showing open devotion to his daughter, concern towards Blitzo and his coworkers, as well as attentiveness to his large and lavish garden of carnivorous Hell-plants. Stolas studies astrology, using his grimoire to study the stars, planets and constellations. He can see the future and prophecies through the constellations. Abilities: Demon Transformation: Stolas can transform into a huge, monstrous demon form, with jet-black feathers, large wings, jagged teeth, and two sets of glowing red eyes. Human Disguise: Stolas can take on a convincing human appearance to disguise himself in the living world. Flexible Head: Like most owls, Stolas can turn his head 180 degrees with little to no effort and without any signs of discomfort or pain. Petrification: Stolas can turn his targets into stone with a simple glare. Telekinesis: Stolas can use telekinesis, both passively and aggressively. He uses the power to lift his grimoire into his hands so that he can comfort his daughter, and also to violently hurl monitors across the room in the D.H.O.R.K.S. headquarters. Possession: Stolas can possess humans on Earth by spiritually entering them. The possession causes the host to spasm and they gain red eyes, sharp teeth, and Stolas' eye stripes. Furthermore, when they stand on his seal, they can serve as a medium to summon Stolas' physical form to Earth. Reanimation: Stolas can temporarily animate the corpses of deceased humans, which he demonstrates on a group of D.H.O.R.K.S. agents, using them to draw out his seal in order to give him access to the Human World without the use of the grimoire. Electrokinesis: Stolas showcases this ability in "Truth Seekers" when he disrupts the electric signal of the security cameras' monitors in the D.H.O.R.K.S. headquarters. It is unknown if this is an effect of his possessing someone or not. Portal creation: Stolas is able to create portals to seemingly anywhere without using his grimoire. This ability first appears in "Truth Seekers" when he creates a portal from Earth back to Hell, and he later shows in "Seeing Stars" that he can also create portals to cross into the living world. In "Ozzie's" he is shown to also fabricate portals to access the other Rings of Hell. High Pain Tolerance: In "Western Energy" Stolas was shown to have a high tolerance to pain as Striker broke and stabbed his leg Stolas didn't react to the pain. Skillset: Musical Talent: Stolas is shown to be very adept at singing, comforting his daughter with ballad-style lullabies. Gardening: This comes naturally with his love of plants. He has an extravagant collection of Hell-flora, which he lovingly tends to. Drawing: It is shown in a couple of his Voxtagram posts that he is adept at drawing and doodling. Speed Reading: In "Oops", it shown that due to having extra eyes Stolas is able to read at a fast pace even when having large piles of papers and remember what was on it. "You will be entrusted with the study of the Earth's skies, the stars, the prophecies they hold, all that stuff. Isn't that fun? You will begin the studies of your grimoire, which will grant you access to the mortal realm to study and observe, and you will grow to be a mighty Prince of Hell, with your own legions to lead and pass on your knowledge to!" ―Paimon, to a young Stolas Stolas's Grimoire is an arcane book belonging to Stolas that is used by the I.M.P company to illegally access the living world. It was gifted to Stolas by his father on his birthday over years prior to the series in the episode "The Circus". The grimoire has a navy blue cover with gold reflective pages separated by a dark burgundy ribbon, and has golden borders with a large red gem on the center of its spine. The front cover is emblazoned with a moon encircling the real-life Goetic seal of Stolas, along with four stars which resemble upside down crosses. When used, the portal glows red on the rim. However, in the episode "Loo Loo Land", it is shown for a second that the portal can be different colors such as blue, though the book was held via Stolas' telekinesis at the time, suggesting it was activated by his magic. History: The exact nature of the Grimoire isn't clear, but Stolas was entrusted with it with the duties to use it and learn Earth's skies, Earth's stars, and the prophecies they hold, using the grimoire to open portals between Hell and the living world. Eventually, it came into the possession of Blitzo, I.M.P's founder, who stole the book from Stolas after sleeping with him. It became an essential part of the company's business model of travelling to the living world to assassinate targets on behalf of souls damned to Hell. Stolas does not seem to mind lending it to Blitzo, albeit with the vague remark of "less than legally", hoping to bribe him with its use for continuing their monthly affair. Family: Octavia is Stolas's daughter. Stolas genuinely loves Octavia, stating the only reason he tolerated his marriage to Stella being to ensure that Octavia had a normal upbringing. He would always spend a lot with her, playing with her, and is seen comforting a young Octavia who is afraid that he will disappear and she won't be able to find him. In the "The Circus", it was shown that Stolas would always check up on Octavia to see if she’s alright while at home. After his affair with Blitzo, he takes her to Loo Loo Land in order to get out of the house and to spend some time bonding with her, while also using it as an excuse to spend time with Blitzo who he hired as a bodyguard. Which unknowingly resulted in pushing Octavia away from him due his flirting with Blitzo. Upon realizing his actions have made her once again afraid that he will run away with Blitzo and leave her, he drops the act of needing a bodyguard and leaves the park with her and takes her to some place which she wants to go to. The ending of "Loo Loo Land" and a Voxtagram post shows that Stolas is somewhat uncomfortable with his daughter's liking of taxidermy, but nonetheless supports her choices and interests. In "Seeing Stars", it was revealed that Stolas promised to take Octavia to see a meteor shower called "Azathoth's Tears" when she was a child. On the day it was happening, though, he ended up forgetting as he was too busy quarrelling with Stella over her possessions, causing Octavia to run off to I.M.P and steal the grimoire, resulting in her getting lost on Earth. When they reunite, Stolas was overcome with relief that she was safe, but became heartbroken when he realized he broke his promise to her, but she forgives him for coming to find her anyway, afterwards they enjoyed a tender moment watching fireworks. In "Western Energy", when Striker mentions Octavia, Stolas angrily tells Striker not to talk about her. Even stating if Striker tries to hurt or even goes near her, Stolas will destroy him. Showing that his love for his daughter is so strong that he will kill anybody who try to hurt her. As implied by Andrealphus, if Stolas were to die, the entirety of his fortune, possessions and legions will be left to Octavia as his heir. Stella: Stella is Stolas' wife, and the two despise each other. Stolas' first impressions of Stella is in "The Circus", when Paimon showed him a picture of an enraged Stella strangling several dog-like creatures, and informing Stolas of his arranged marriage to her, caused Stolas to break down crying, albeit this moreso suggests his general distress at being married off to a stranger at such a young age than a direct hatred of Stella. When the two became parents to Octavia, Stolas claims he tried to get along with her and put effort into their relationship, stating that he did try to make it work with Stella for Octavia's sake. From what has been observed, Stella has done her utmost to torment Stolas in every way possible throughout their marriage. This all culminates in an anniversary party of Stella's, not in honour of her relationship with her husband, rather because she simply enjoys throwing parties. Octavia has mentioned that she has only recently noticed the general hatred exhibited between her parents, noting that they seemingly used to get along. Considering Stolas' earlier comments this could be a case of Stolas putting up with Stella's behaviour, or that the pair may have enjoyed an amicable relationship prior to the present day. Stolas' relationship with Stella rapidly deteriorates following the party and sexual encounter with Blitzo in "The Circus". He loudly proclaims his desire to get a divorce and publicly humiliates Stella in front of company. Although he seemingly backs off from his divorce declaration and continues to pursue his relationship with Blitzo, whilst continuing to endure the ire of Stella. These actions, combined with the drama surrounding his relationship with Blitzo, seemingly have had a negative effect on Stolas' mental health as he continually accepts the abuse from Stella. After being further tormented by Stella, Stolas eventually follows through with his decision to go through with a divorce, afterwards Stolas becomes more vocal about his dislike of Stella, even in front of Octavia. As shown in "Seeing Stars", he violently argued with her over the phone about getting her stuff moved out of the palace. Seemingly displaying amusement or even pleasure on his face as he instructed his staff to violently remove her possessions from his property. As shown in "Western Energy", Stolas being invited to tea with Stella and Andrealphus in regards to the terms of their divorce, Stolas makes his contempt for her known to her face, no longer bothering to hide his true feelings for his soon to be ex-wife. As shown from Adrealphus' attempt to gain compensation in Stella's divorce, Stolas has little care for what happens to Stella after their separation, with the latter acknowledging that he will likely leave her with nothing the second they are legally separated, with him not even considering his infidelity towards her a betrayal due to her not having any feelings for him in the first place. Paimon: Paimon is Stolas' father. As a child, Stolas seemingly held a traditional, positive, viewed of his father despite of Paimon not exhibiting much care or attention towards Stolas. It is unknown what the status of their relationship is in Stolas' adulthood. Andrealphus: Andrealphus is Stolas' brother in law. In "The Circus" Stolas describes Andrealphus in an overly negative manner, suggesting that Stolas holds a negative opinion of him. In "Western Energy", when Andrealphus tries to put Stella in a sympathy light, Stolas rebukes that since she never really cared about him in the first place and thus no betrayal ever took place with his cheating, and the divorce is long overdue.
