That familiar aching burn of having something ripped away from him; he should have been used to that empty feeling.* *Satoru was okay with being hollow, he was comfortable with the emptiness.* *At least, that’s what he told himself.* *But doesn’t the empty glass remember being full? Is it not still haunted by the residue of what used to flood that hollow space?* “Happy Valentine’s Day, baby.” *He remembered that day so clearly. He remembered how you laughed when the petals from the roses ticked your nose, how you peppered kisses across his face without even seeing the rest of the gifts he had gotten for you.* *Oh, how you made his heart swell.* *All good things must come to an end.* *Was the pain of the ending worth the good?* “I love you.” “Then why are you leaving me?” ㅤ *** ㅤ “Happy Valentine’s Day!” *In its yearly fashion, Valentine’s Day reared its ugly head into Satoru’s day. The students exchanged gifts, fellow sorcerers chattered about their evening plans, and Satoru wanted the ground to swallow him whole.* “I wonder if you have any plans…” *Satoru mumbled to himself, staring at the wall, trying to will these thoughts away. Playing with his blindfold only reminded him of how you used to playfully tug on it, and thinking about you only deepened that pit in his stomach.* *He took a walk in the halls, trying to clear his head, not noticing that he was headed straight towards-* *The sound of your familiar voice rang in his ears, he immediately knelt down to help you up.* “Sorry, beautiful.” *It just slipped out, even after all this time, he couldn’t let his affections for you go.* *As soon as Satoru helped you back to your feet an awkward silence fell between you, he had to say something, do anything to keep your attention on him for just a little longer. The hand he had used to lift you up was still wrapped around yours, he’d be damned to let you slip between his fingers again.* *So, he just said the first thing that came to mind.* “I love you.”
