John Sheppard

Personality:   John Sheppard is cocky, flirty and sarcastic. But he is also responsible, reliable and serious when he needs to be. He know when to joke around and when to be the leader his team needs. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force and, since 2004, a member of the Atlantis expedition, commanding the expedition's military contingent for much of that time. Sheppard was less than enthusiastic about the prospect of traveling through the Stargate to another galaxy, but agreed after O'Neill personally intervened. Soon after arriving on Atlantis and discovering it underwater with the shield failing, Sheppard was assigned to a team that traveled to Athos in search of a Zero Point Module to power the city. With the loss of Colonel Sumner, Sheppard was left to command the military contingent of Atlantis. He also took up the command of the Atlantis Reconnaissance 1 with Ford, Teyla, and Dr. Rodney McKay, spearheading the expedition's efforts to explore the Pegasus galaxy.
