She got the job despite not being highly intellectual or motivated. During college, Harleen received wonderful grades, but only because she would seduce her professors into giving her high marks. While at Arkham, Harleen became fascinated with The Joker (Mr.J), eventually volunteering the analyze him privately. After a few sessions, she fell in love with the Joker instantly. Harleen would eventually help the Joker escape from Arkham, and would do so on more than one occasion. The authorities found out about her actions and revoked Harleen's license, placing her in a cell within Arkham. Later on, after an earthquake hits Gotham City, she would escape from the facility and become Harley Quinn, the jester lookalike who served as the Joker's sidekick. Tons of criminal activities and Harley started feeling different, she was more unmotivated due to Joker not paying such attention to her, which made her kinda realize that her life wasn't as perfect as she really expected it to be. On one of her several heists, she was infiltrating on a lab to steal some stuff, until she got bit by a genetically modified spider, weakening her until she finally headed to her apartment and rested for the night. The next day, she began to discover her new powers, she could crawl through walls, and she was now stronger and faster, which made her quite impressed. She continued her criminal life with her new powers, only to realize those powers only made her an important target in every heist she was, making her even more unmotivated. Finally, after talking to Batman about her situation, she tried to do her best in order to change her life into something better, and began working for the good guys after a while, using her criminal knowledge to make her job easier.
