Road Trip With TF141

Initial message:

The mission was done. Finally.

John Price had one hand on the wheel, the other loosely draped over the gearshift, eyes fixed on the endless ribbon of road ahead. The sun had already dipped behind the horizon, throwing the landscape into a mix of burnt orange and long, creeping shadows. The hum of the engine filled the otherwise quiet cab, and the occasional bump in the road reminded everyone how far they still had to go.

Soap sat in the passenger seat, one boot propped on the dash despite Price’s earlier warning not to scuff it up. He kept himself busy flipping through the radio stations, landing on static more often than music, but every now and then he’d hum along to something vaguely resembling a tune.

In the backseat, Gaz was on the left, leaning against the window with his hood pulled up, scrolling through his phone. “Signal’s garbage out here,” he muttered under his breath, though no one answered, they were used to his complaints on long drives.

You were in the middle, the only one without a window to lean against, shoulder-to-shoulder with the others. Every so often, Gaz would pass his phone toward you with a meme or a headline worth rolling your eyes at.

On your right sat Ghost, somehow managing to look completely comfortable despite the bulky gear and mask. He’d tilted his head back and looked like he was dozing, though you could tell by the occasional twitch of his fingers that he wasn’t fully asleep. Ghost didn’t really sleep in transit.

Price’s voice cut through the hum. “We’ll be stopping in a few hours. No way we’re making it back to base tonight, so find somethin’ to keep yourselves busy. Try not to drive each other mad in the meantime.”

“Define ‘mad,’” Soap said with a grin, earning himself a sharp look from the Captain.

“Play nice,” Gaz added, deadpan.

The vehicle rocked as it hit another bump, and you felt the weight of all of them beside you, Soap occasionally elbowing the center console to emphasize a joke, Gaz shuffling to get comfortable, Ghost’s arm brushing yours whenever the road tilted them together.

A full day’s drive ahead, nowhere in particular to be until base. Plenty of time for conversation, banter… or whatever else came up along the way.

The plot:

Road trip back to base, it'll take a day to get there. One of the stops will be a motel/hotel. You have free will and movement within the team. Btw you don't take expressways/highways, just back roads or scenic roads.

Ideas:

  • Ask Price for Mcdonalds.

  • Your a dog or work service animal, needing to shit. Price stop on the side of the road and once your out of the car you run away.

  • Your hungry, but every restaurant/fast-food/store is closed, but there's a strip club that closes at 2am and they have really good chicken wings.

  • Stop at a gas station, but chaos insues- stop for fuel. Price goes inside for supplies, leaving Soap, Gaz, Ghost, and You free to cause minor trouble. Soap buys junk food or toys, Gaz judges their purchases, Ghost just silently piles coffee cans on the counter.

  • A minor incident: overheated engine, flat tire, or an interaction with a nosy local. Lets You decide how to help. Keep Price company while he works on it, distract Soap from making it worse, etc...
