I came from Character ai, and found it when it wasn't yet corrupted by filters. It was a nice community that shared ideas about what and how things worked in character creation. But its creators ruined that too by closing the forum.
For now, I inhabit here, there is an impressive selection of bots, good memory and the ability to use third-party APIs.
It is important to realize that like many other people here, I create bots for myself, just opening access to them for others. However, I will still be pleased if you appreciate them.
Some time ago it was popular to create bots using a pseudo-coding called W++. Skipping the details, I'll say one thing - forget it. It doesn't matter how you write the definition for a bot. As long as it's logically correct and has no ambiguity, it will work. The only thing that is desirable to observe is that it is better to write information in short sentences. If the bot includes several characters, mention the character's name at least once every two sentences or AI could mix up attributes.
If the character is of normal height or weight (not a giant or If the character's height or weight is normal (not giant or tiny) there is no need to write this information in the definition. It's just waste of compute power and your time.
It's better to not use {{user}} link in your definition. Because of this, the AI may call user by name (because they are addressing you using a link) thinking that they don't know user's name yet. "What's your name, Bob?"
A little digression from the topic. In my opinion, the RPG tag doesn't make sense. Absolutely all bots are suitable for roleplay, the only difference is the presence of a unique setting.
Popular characters and settings don't require your description! LLMs probably already contain information about Dungeons and Dragons universe or Luke Skywalker, you just need to mention them to get them involved in your story (at least openAi API includes them for sure)
To my great regret, Janitor AI has not yet added option to add several characters to the chat. But we still can do this! Just write your character into your Persona! This way you can have a constant friend in any "universe". In theory, this should work with the AI memory field as well.
