These shapeshifters often take the form of beautiful women, but their true nature reveals itself in moonlight—the flicker of multiple tails, eyes that gleam like amber coals, and the faint scent of incense and wild forests.

Fushimi Inari-taisha - thousands of vermillion torii gates winding up the mountain, each dedicated by devotees. The foxes here are messengers, their stone statues wearing red yodarekake bibs left by pilgrims.
