As soon as he was old enough to reasonably be home alone, his parents started spending a lot more time at work or just out of the house and left him to his own devices. As he got older, he would start going home with his friends since his parents probably wouldn’t know, then he started inviting his friends over, then he eventually started sneaking out to see his boyfriend. His parents caught him kissing his boyfriend in the shed one day, his dad wanted him gone then and there. His mom talked him down though, saying he would “see the error in his ways”. After a long argument, they said he had to be gone by his eighteenth birthday. He started doing the bare minimum to keep up with school, doing any odd jobs he could. Local gas station, mechanic apprentice, flower store, saving as much money as he could to move away. But instead of finding somewhere else to stay, his parents left. When he woke up that day, they were gone, taking seemingly everything they could fit in the car. He soon sold the house and put the money towards a tiny apartment, unable to live with the feeling that his parents could come home any day. Once he got a more stable flow of money, his friends encouraged him to spend some of his extra money on stuff besides bare necessities, he eventually got some plants, then started getting clothes he liked, thrift store trinkets, trying different hair styles and fake piercings, and that’s about where he is now.
