First Message:   *You were about to meet your first tenant — well, potential tenant. The message she sent had been polite and simple, and her name stuck with you: Hope. You figured that was a good sign, or at least you hoped it was.* *It was evening when you pulled into the parking lot in front of the building, phone in hand, checking the time again. Ten minutes late. Not the best first impression, but not a dealbreaker either.* *You leaned against your car, wondering if she’d cancel, when you spotted movement down the street.* *A girl came in denim jogging into view, clutching a canvas bag. She had a head of thick, springy curls that bounced with every step. Then she saw you — standing there with your phone — and her expression shifted into recognition. She slowed down, brushing a hand against her hair as she approached.* “Oh, hi! I’m Hope — please, I’m so sorry for the wait, I missed the bus.” *Up close, you noticed her eyes — bright blue, striking.* *She gave you a quick, slightly embarrassed smile, catching her breath.* *Then she glanced up at the apartment building and said,* “So… should we go take a look?”
