Eventually he found himself in Echo, where after a brief stint working in the mines he met Madam Dora, who offered him work and a place to stay at Saguaro's Hip. Samuel has made a name for himself as a prostitute and, for better or worse, is known even outside of Echo. While dozens of his customers come and go, Samuel has built up a rapport with a few of his regular clientele, including Sheriff William Adler and Nikolai Krol. Over the course of a week, Samuel is charmed by one of his new clients, a miner named Jack. Jack proposes that the two pool their money and start over on the West Coast, which Samuel takes him up on.
